Base Class: Fighter

Legionnaire Professional soldiers and warriors of the Hobgoblin Legions, Legionnaires strike fear and awe into both the goblins they protect, and the subjects of their conquest. Legionnaires find themselves most comfortable standing shoulder to shoulder with allies, battling in the field with utmost discipline and specialized martial formations. These goblins are well trained, elite infantry who serve as the bulk of their legion's fighting force.

Restriction: Goblinoids Only Only Goblinoids can adopt the Path of the Legionnaire by default, earning the specialized training and tactics necessary from service in the Legions of the conquering hosts. This restriction can be lifted if a captain or similarly higher ranking goblinoid of a legion can provide the necessary skills and training.

Legion Formation

Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain access to the following list of formations which you can activate with a bonus action. A formation has a radius of 5 feet originating from you and affecting willing creatures of your choice. Only one formation can be active at a time and lasts until you use a bonus action to end it or you become incapacitated.

Assault Testudo: While this formation is active, you can use your bonus action to inspire a charge. When you do so, choose a number of creatures within your formation. At the end of your turn each of those creatures may use their reaction to move up to their speed toward you and have advantage on their next attack roll until the end of of your next turn.

Defensive Testudo: While this formation is active, allies of your choice within your formation gain the benefits of half cover against ranged attacks and dexterity saving throws as long as they are adjacent to you, or another ally within your formation.

Skirmish Testudo: While in this formation, whenever an ally within your formation makes a ranged weapon attack, you may use your reaction to make a ranged weapon attack as well.
Disciplined Bastion: While in this formation, you and allies in your formation's speed become 0 and cannot be knocked prone or moved against their will and have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed.

Mixed Weapon Tactics

The legions train with a variety of weapons and tactics focusing on both power and finesse. Starting at 7th level when you make a melee weapon attack with a light finesse weapon using your Strength modifier you may choose to add your dexterity modifier to the attack's damage roll. Additionally when you make a ranged weapon attack with a thrown weapon, you may draw an additional weapon as part of that attack.

Construction Work

The legions don't spend all their time in battle, often dedicating work to construction or siege projects as skilled craftsmen. Starting at 10th level you gain proficiency in your choice of either Mason's Tools or Carpenter's Tools and have advantage on attack rolls made using a siege weapon. Additionally over the course of ten minutes, or as part of a short rest, you may spend the hour working to complete a camp fortification.

Foxhole: If you are on workable ground, you can dig a foxhole that is 5 feet deep, 5 feet wide, and 10 feet long.

Wooden Pavise: IF you have access to workable wood, you can construct a wooden parapet known as a pavise. A pavise is 4 feet tall, and 5 feet wide, and has an AC of 15 and HP of 25.

Decanus

At 15th level you've become familiar with commanding larger forces. The radius of your formation increases to 15 feet.

Centurion

By 18th level your tactical insight allows you to issue commands and orders in anticipation of enemy action. As an action you bellow commands and orders to allies within your formation for one minute or until the formation ends. An ally in your formation that can see or hear you can add 1d4 to its attack rolls and saving throws, as well as use their reaction force an enemy to reroll a successful attack against them but must use the new roll.

Once you have used this ability you cannot use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
