Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

So you've managed to come in contact with a dragon and convince it not to eat you, great! Now its employed you as one of its own so you can do some work under its claw. Don't fret though, being a warlock of a dragon comes with some benefits, like being able to tell people you've met a dragon and lived or being able to walk through flames and come out mostly okay.

Metallic vs Chromatic

If your patron is a Metallic Dragon, consider how you ended up as one of their warlocks, perhaps you told a copper dragon the funniest joke they've heard and it decided you were funny enough to be bestowed with their power, perhaps you performed a mighty good deed that a gold dragon witnessed and it took you up as one of its many powerful mages its deployed to do more good across the world.

Alternatively, being a warlock of a Chromatic Dragon has some concerning implications. Perhaps you were able to talk a white dragon out of freezing you and eating you, promising to bring them more things to eat without having to hunt for their own food. Perhaps the dreaded red dragon simply took you as a slave to do its mysterious bidding.
Never the less, now you've been granted power, powerful power at that.

Gifted Scales

Starting at 1st level, your patron bestows upon you armour made from their own scales.

You gain proficiency in scale mail armour and gain scale mail made of the scales of your dragon patron. While wearing this armour you have resistance to the damage type associated with your Draconic Patron. If you lose your Gifted Scales you can spend 1 minute to speak wonders about your patron out loud to at least 1 other creature and your patron will deliver you a new set of Gifted Scales at the end of your next long rest.

Power of the Dragon

Starting at 6th level, you can channel the power of your patron to bolster your attacks. Whenever you deal the damage associated with your Draconic Patron with an attack or a spell, you may add your charisma modifier to one of the damage rolls.

Furthermore, whenever you deal damage with a cantrip that does Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning or Poison damage, you can change the damage type to the one associated with your Draconic Patron. You also gain a cantrip from spell list that deals Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning or Poison damage, this cantrip counts as a warlock cantrip but does not count toward the amount of known cantrips.

Frightful Presence

Beginning at 10th level, your patron teaches you how to bestow fear into your enemies.

As a bonus action, you can force a creature of your choice within 60 feet of you that can see or hear you to make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or become frightened for 1 minute. The creature can make the save at the end of its turn, ending the fear if it succeeds or if an ally makes an attack or casts a spell against the frightened creature. A creature who succeeds the saving throw is immune to this feature for 24 hours.

You can use Frightful Presence a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier, you regain all uses of this feature after a long rest.

Dragonkin

Starting at 14th level, you can transform your Gifted Scales into Dragonkin armour as an action, giving you the features of a dragon. While wearing your Dragonkin Armour, you gain the following benefits:

  • You gain temporary Hit Points equal to twice your Warlock Level
  • You spurt wings from your back, giving you a flying speed equal to double your walking speed.
  • Creatures have disadvantage on saving throws against your Frightful Presence.
  • As an action, you can make a breath attack. You may choose to do the attack in a 60 ft long, 5 ft wide line or a 30 ft cone originating from you. Any creature in that area must make a saving throw against your spell save DC or take 5d10+your warlock level of damage. The damage type is the one associated with your Draconic Patron. The save is a Dexterity saving throw if the damage type is Acid, Fire or Lightning and the save is a Constitution saving throw if the damage type is Cold or Poison damage. This feature does not benefit from your Power of the Dragon feature. Once you make a breath weapon attack, roll a d6 at the start of each of your turns, you cannot make a breath weapon attack again until you roll a 6.

After 10 minutes, your Dragonkin armour reverts back into your Gifted Scales. You must finish a short or long rest before you can use this feature again.
