Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Becoming a Demon Slayer is no easy task. Nor is it a group that is easily joined. Those selected to become Demon Slayer's often have qualities suited to the craft. On top of that, they've more than likely seen their share of pain and misery. Through hard work, dedication, and practice you've become a weapon. A weapon with a singular purpose. Eradicating demons and aberrations from the mortal plain with no remorse.

Non Restrictive Movement

Demon Slayer's follow their code to the letter. That includes the Demon Slayer uniform. Needing to be able to move quickly, Demon Slayer's resort to light armor, and a kimono of their choosing.

Deadly Tempo

Your training with the corp has taught you to strike quick and make it count. Using all your focus, your first strike will always be one of your fiercest.

During combat whenever you take the Attack action on a creature who hasn't taken any damage, the attack deals an extra 1d8 damage. This damage is also doubled on critical strikes.

Breathing Techniques

Breathing techniques are the pinnacle of a Demon Slayer's arsenal. Each technique requires a level of specific breathing that can only be honed over time.

Starting at level 3, you may choose two of the Breathing Techniques from the list below. You gain two additional techniques at levels 7, 10, and 15.

These techniques can be used by spending a Breath Point in order to unleash a devastating attack with deadly effects. The level of technique may require more than one Breath Point and only one Breathing Technique may be used a round. A Demon Slayer gets Breath Points equal to their level. If a Demon Slayer defeats an enemy using a Breathing Technique, they are refunded one Breath Point. Otherwise, Breath Point's replenish after rest. A Demon Slayer can regain Breath Points equal to half their level (rounded down) with a short rest. They regain them in full following a long rest.

Flame Breathing: Flame Tiger

By spending 2 Breath Points you unleash a powerful burning slash. This attack functions like a 1st level Burning Hands spell. For every 2 Breath Points spent, the level of the spell increases by 1 level.

Flame Breathing: Rising Scorching Sun

By spending 1 Breath Point you deliver an upward sword slash with such speed that in burns the creature it strikes. The creature takes normal weapon damage and then takes 1d4 +1 fire damage for the next 1d4 rounds. The additional plus to damage increases based on the amount of Breath Points used.

Insect Breathing: Butterfly Dance

By spending 1 Breath Point the Demon Slayer imbues their strike with a sharp poison. The strike deals weapon damage as well as poisons the creature for 1d4 rounds.

Insect Breathing: Dance of the Dragonfly

By spending 5 Breath Points the swordsman focuses on a vital location of their opponents circulatory system. Upon a successful strike, the player rolls a d6. The wielder deals weapon damage as well as a serious dose of poison damage to the corresponding location of the creature that is rolled.

1) Arm: 1d8 poison damage.

2) Leg: 1d8 poison damage.

3) Torso: 3d8 poison damage.

4) Femoral Artery: 5d8 poison damage.

5) Neck: 6d8 poison damage.

6) Heart: 8d8 poison damage.

Mist Breathing: Four-Layered Mist

By spending 2 Breath Points the Demon Slayer unleashes four quick slashes upon a target. This allows the Demon Slayer to ignore their weapon damage to deal 4d4 damage instead. After using this ability, attacks against the Demon Slayer have advantage until the start of the their next turn.

Mist Breathing: Obscuring Mist

By spending 5 Breath Points, the Demon Slayer moves in a ghost like manner. For this turn, the Demon Slayer can teleport as if one with the mist, up to a total of their movement speed. During this state the Demon Slayer may make melee attacks on any creature you can teleport to. After using this ability, you suffer 1 point of exhaustion.

Thunder Breathing: Honoikazuchi no Kami

The strongest Thunder Breathing technique. By spending 4 Breath Points this ability allows the user to triple their movement speed while using this ability. On a strike, the creature takes your weapon damage as well as an aditional 6d6 lightning damage. After using this ability the user rolls a D20. If it's 10 or below, the user suffers lightning damage equal to what they dealt. On an 11 or higher the user takes half damage.

Thunder Breathing: Thunderclap and Flash

By spending 2 Breath Points the Demon Slayer rockets forward 30 feet at a single target. On a successful strike the creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. The save is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier. If failed, the creature will take normal weapon damage, as well as 2d10 thunder damage. However, due to the explosive nature of the move, the user's movement speed is halved and they suffer the effects of 1 point of exhaustion until the start of their next turn.

Water Breathing: Constant Flux

The most advanced Water Breathing technique. By spending 4 Breath Points the Demon Slayer rockets forward 30 feet, cutting any enemies within their path. Each creature in the line must make a Dexterity saving throw. The save is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier.  A creature takes 3d8 slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Water Breathing: Dead Calm

An extremely powerful defensive technique. The user ceases all body movements and enters a state of complete tranquility, deflecting and blocking any incoming attacks with imperceptible speed. However, its effectiveness is limited as fast and numerous attacks can break through. By spending two Breath Points you can gain a temporary +5 to your AC for the next three attacks that target you. Moving ends this effect.

Water Breathing: Water Wheel

When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can expend one Breath Point to attempt to damage another creature with the same attack. Choose another creature within 5 feet of the original target and within your reach. If the original attack roll would hit the second creature, it takes damage equal to that dealt to the original target. The damage is of the same type dealt by the original attack.

Wind Breathing: Claws-Purifying Wind

By spending 1 Breath Point you can make a ranged-melee attack against a creature within 30 feet of you. If your attack would hit, the creature takes 1d8 +1 force damage. The additional bonus damage increases by 1 per additional Breath Point spent.

Wind Breathing: Idaten Typhoon

By spending 4 Breath Points the swordsman backflips into the air and while upside-down, unleashes a powerful gust of circular wind. This allows the Demon Slayer to cast the Steel Wind Strike spell.

Nichirin Blade

Nichirin Blades are special blades used by and made specifically for the Demon Slayer Corps to slay their enemies. They are forged from a unique ore that constantly absorbs sunlight in order to strengthen the blade. Nichirin Blades take on a distinct color when first drawn by its owner, which is why they are also referred to as "The Color Changing Swords". (The color of the blade can be decided by the player or the GM depending on what is worked out between the two.)

Total Concentration Breathing

An advanced application of Breathing, is a state where a Breathing Style user inhales the maximum amount of oxygen within a specific breath pattern to raise their physical and mental prowess to their utmost limits. It is often used by Demon Slayers for a brief moment to temporarily boost their combat capabilities to prepare a decisive attack. You gain proficiency in Constitution saving throws. If you're already proficient in this, you instead gain proficiency Dexterity or Intelligence saving throws. (Your choice.)

Total Concentration: Constant

Total Concentration Breathing state during the morning, noon, and night, and even while asleep that Advanced Demon Slayers can constantly maintain. There is an immense difference in strength, speed, and stamina between someone who can maintain Total Concentration Breathing at all times and someone who cannot. Learning to maintain a constant state of Total Concentration Breathing requires tremendous effort, though, the skill itself is noted to be quite elementary despite the required effort. Upon reaching this state at level 11 you gain the following benefits:

1) Your movement speed increases to 40 feet.

2) Upon defeating a creature with a Breathing Technique, you immediately regain 1 Breath Point.

Breathing Hybridization

At this stage of their training it is possible for a swordsman to use more than one Breathing Style technique at a time, allowing the user to take advantage of the advantageous aspects of both techniques. Upon gaining this class feature, you may now use up to 2 Breathing Techniques in one round allowing the Demon Slayer to further increase their deadly potential.
