Base Class: Warlock
Warlocks of the Twilight Phoenix gain access to her blazing violet flames, though they struggle to control the ferocity of her raw power gaining no special benefit against the damage their power might cause. They also gain her ability to cheat death and rise from the ashes of defeat to destroy those who sought to harm them.
Ignite
At 1st level, you gain the ability to start fires with a touch. As an action, you can magically ignite a flammable object you touch with your hand—an object such as a torch, a piece of tinder, or the hem of drapes. These flames of dark purple-black shadow signify your connection to the twilight phoenix.
Firebird's Fury
As an action, you wreathe yourself in the shadowy fires of your patron. For 1 minute, when a creature you can see within 60 feet deals damage to you or a friendly creature, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to make a Dexterity saving throw. It takes 2d10 + your Warlock level in fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Spark of Rebirth
Starting at 6th level, the fiery energy within you grows restless and vengeful. In the face of defeat, it surges outward to preserve you in a fiery roar. If you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can draw upon the phoenix's spark. You are instead reduced to 1 hit point, and hostile creatures within 10 feet of you takes fire damage equal to your warlock level + your Charisma modifier.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
Blazing soul
Beginning at 10th level, as an action your body becomes wreathed in purple-black flame and dark blazing wings sprout from your back for 1 minute. For the duration you gain these benefits:
- You are resistant to cold damage and damage from non-magical weapons.
- Any creature that touches or hits you with a melee attack while within 5 feet of you takes 1d10 fire damage.
- Your weapons and spells are wrapped in flames, and you may add 1d6 fire damage to all damage rolls.
- You have a fly speed of 30 feet.
- You shed bright light for 30 feet and dim light for another 30 feet.
- You may use this feature a number of times per day equal to your proficiency modifier. Each use results in a level of exhaustion once the duration has completed as you are left drained.
Rebirth
Beginning at 14th level, immediately after failing your third death saving throw or as a reaction to an effect that would kill you instantly, you may choose to reduce your body to smoldering ash. The flames that consume your body have no effect on anything not on your person. Your magical items and surroundings are unaffected and remain where you fell. Any non-magical items, including clothes, on your person at the time of activation are destroyed in the Rebirth process. At the first dawn after 24 hours, you are reborn from the ashes.
- You are reborn naked and ash covered with no attuned magical items, at half you hit point maximum with the benefits of a short rest.
- All scars, diseases, ailments, and any other physical disfigurements are removed by Rebirth.
- In this time, should your ashes be scattered, Rebirth fails. Should the ashes be recombined the 24 hour process begins anew.
- You may not benefit from this ability again for three days after completing Rebirth successfully.
- Should you not be able to be reborn within seven days of activation, Rebirth fails completely and you remain dead.
