Base Class: Wizard
Ritualism is the art of drawing pleasure from habit. The School of Ritualism empowers those patient and forward-thinking few in their spellcraft. A ritualist is a wizard who specialises in preparation and seldom finds themselves flustered by surprise.
Ritualism Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, the gold and time you must spend to copy a ritual spell into your spellbook is halved. Additionally, the time it takes you to complete your ritual casting is reduced by a number of minutes equal to half your wizard level, rounded down. The maximum amount of time this feature can reduce your ritual casting by is nine minutes.
Ritualist Initiate
Beginning at 2nd level, you can choose one 1st level spell that you know and modify it into a ritual spell. The spell must have a duration of 1 hour or longer. The ritual casting of the spell follows all of the rules from the ritual casting feature and when cast as a ritual, is cast at 1st level. You can swap your chosen spell at the end of a long rest.
Adept Ritualist
Beginning at 6th level, you can choose one 2nd level spell that you know and modify it into a ritual spell. The spell must have a duration of 1 hour or longer. The ritual casting of the spell follows all of the rules from the ritual casting feature and when cast as a ritual, is cast at 2nd level. You can swap your chosen spell at the end of a long rest
Potent Conduit
At 6th level, you learn the ability to pre-cast a spell in anticipating its requirement. You must spend the amount of time required for your Ritual Casting to pre-cast a spell with a cast time of 1 Action or longer. When the ritual casting is complete, you expend the spell slot required for the spell and you deal necrotic damage to yourself, equal to the level of the spell; this damage cannot be reduced by any resistance or immunity, and your total maximum hit points are reduced by that number until you finish a long rest. The spell is stored as arcane sigils upon your skin until they are either activated, dispelled or you finish a long rest. You choose the spell's target or area of effect upon activation. You can use a Bonus Action to activate the arcane sigils, releasing the pre-cast spell. You can have a number of spells prepared in this way equal to your intelligence modifier.
Expert Ritualist
Beginning at 10th level, you can choose one 3rd level spell that you know and modify it into a ritual spell. The spell must have a duration of 1 hour or longer. The ritual casting of the spell follows all of the rules from the ritual casting feature and when cast as a ritual, is cast at 3rd level. You can swap your chosen spell at the end of a long rest.
Ritual Altar
Beginning at 14th level, you can use a bonus action to conjure or dismiss a ritual altar. The ritual altar appears within 15 feet of you and fits within a 5 feet square. You can take 10 minutes to cast a spell requiring concentration into the ritual altar, where it is stored dormant until activated. The ritual altar can hold only one spell at a time and you consume the spell slot at the time of storage.
You can use an action to perform a sacrifice over the ritual altar, releasing the stored spell. You deal necrotic damage to yourself, equal to your wizard level + the level of the spell; this damage cannot be reduced by any resistance or immunity, and your total maximum hit points are reduced by that number until you finish a long rest.
You choose the spell's target or area of effect upon activation but you do not require concentration to maintain the spell. The spell's effect remains until the duration expires, you dismiss it as an action, or an enemy within 5 feet of the ritual altar makes a successful Intelligence (Arcana) check against your Spell Save DC to disrupt the spell.
