Base Class: Warlock
The Sage King was once a Spring Eladrin that lost his life trying to protect the once named Grand Vestan Oak from a group of power hungry mages over 5,000 years ago. Some say that the mysterious powers that course through the Vestan Forest fused the elf's spirit with that of the Grand Vestan Oak, keeping his soul alive and transforming the Grand Oak into what is now known as the Sage King's Oak.
For the past 5,000 years, each time the Sage King's Oak reincarnates, a warlock is chosen to succeed the Sage King and inherit a portion of the mysterious magic that runs through both the Sage King's Oak and the Vestan Forest. This selection usually occurs when a warlock's life is in danger while in the Vestan Forest, so in exchange for the Sage King's guidance and protection, that warlock is bound to the Sage King's Oak and succeeds the current Sage King at the next reincarnation of the Sage King's Oak.

Sage King's Bow
At 1st level, you gain access to the essence of the bow used by the original Sage King. As a free action, you can summon the Sage King's Bow, a longbow made from the vines of the Vestan Forest and a branch from the Sage King's Oak. You are considered proficient with this weapon and suffer no penalties for using this weapon if your size is Small. This weapon can also be used as an arcane focus.
Whenever you hit with an attack using ammunition fired from this bow, it deals an additional 1d4 piercing damage as vines protrude from the ammunition and latch onto the target before disappearing. This damage increases as you reach certain levels in this class: 1d6 at 6th level, 1d8 at 11th level, 1d10 at 16th level and 1d12 at 20th level.
Arrows of the Grand Oak
Starting at 6th level, you gain the ability to temporarily enhance your arrows with energy from the Grand Oak. Whenever you attack with the Sage King's Bow, you can choose to add one of the following effects to the attack:
- Binding Overgrowth: If you hit with this attack, the target must make a Strength saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. On a failure, the target is restrained until the end of your next turn as vines and branches protrude from the arrow and wrap around the creature.
- Draining Shot: If you hit with this attack, you regain hit points equal to half the damage dealt to the target (rounded down).
Once you add an effect to an attack, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Roots of the Forest Guardian
Starting at 10th level, you gain resistance to bludgeoning, slashing and piercing damage and you are always considered to be under the effects of the barkskin spell.
Rebirth of the Sage King
Starting at 14th level, your ties to the Sage King's Oak restores your life energy whenever it's depleted. If you are reduced to 0 hit points, but not killed outright, you can make a DC 10 Charisma saving throw. If you succeed, you drop to 1 hit point instead. If you succeed the saving throw by 10 or more, you regain hit points equal to half your maximum hit points.
Each time you use this feature after the first, the DC increases by 5. When you finish a short or long rest, the DC resets to 10.
