Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

The plague doctor is a practitioner of illness. They can cure most illnesses rather easily and immunize the patient from further ailment while curing others in a sickly way. During the young Physicians study days it wasn't uncommon for some to self inflict a few debilitating diseases and poisons just so they could cure it proving their capability in the medical field. Sometimes students would push as far to infect themselves with a not yet cured virus just to prove to others they're more than a capable doctor but sometimes their strive for greatness is too much for them to cure.

Dark Practitioner

Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, you can add your Intelligence modifier to all your Wisdom medicine skill checks and you gain proficiency in the medicine skill if you don’t already have it.

At the end of a short rest, you can expend a Contagion use per creature to attempt a Wisdom medicine check against a poison or disease's DC. On a success, you cure a creature of one magical poison or disease. Creatures you cure with this feature are immune to that poison or disease for a number of days equal to you wizard level.

Contagion

Starting at 2nd level, you gain the ability to infect a creature with a debilitating disease. As a bonus action, expend one use of your contagion feature and choose one creature you can see that is dead (body is not destroyed) or alive within 90 feet of you and on the same plane of existence, to make a Constitution save against your spell save DC or become infected in this way for 10 minutes (dead creatures automatically fail this save). You can use your bonus action to force any number of creatures of your choice you can see within 5 feet of an infected body and within 90 feet of you to make this save or become infected in this way. You can infect a number of creatures up to your wizard level at any given time. When you reach the max amount the first infected loses this effect. The following happens to infected creatures:

  • Infected creatures up to 90 feet away from you must make a Constitution saving throw at the beginning of your turn against your spell save DC or take 1d4 poison damage. The poison damage increases when you gain levels in this class to 2d4 at level 6, 3d4 at level 10, and 4d4 at level 14.

Constructs along with creatures that are immune to disease, necrotic damage, or poison and the poisoned condition can't be infected by your contagion feature.

This effect ends early if you fall unconscious, die, leave the plane of the infected creature, or If you're more than 90 feet away from the infected target. You can use this feature twice per short rest.

Ill Resilience

By the time you've reached 6th level, you gain an improved tolerance against the effects of poison and disease. You have advantage on Constitution saving throws against poison, and have resistance against poison damage and are immune to disease.

Panacea

When you get to level 6 in this class you can also, as an action, bolster the natural regeneration capabilities with your Contagion by spending a use of your Contagion feature and a 3rd level spell slot to heal a number of creatures equal to your Intelligence modifier within sight up to 90 feet away, for an amount equal to your Contagion dice.

Potent Infection

At 10th level, you have now developed the ability to create a poison so pungent that not even immunity to poison keeps your enemies safe from the effects of your Contagion. Your Contagion feature now ignores resistance to poison. Also, creatures that are immune to disease, poison and the poisoned condition can be infected and are now instead resistant to the damage from your Contagion features.

When you roll for a Contagion feature, you can add your Intelligence modifier to the roll.

Inoculation

Starting at 14th level, as an action, you can make the poison rapidly spread inside a number of creatures under the effect of your Contagion feature equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). Each creature within 90 feet of you must make a Constitution saving throw. A target takes 4d4 poison damage or half as much damage on a successful one.

Also, your contagion feature gains additional benefits:

Epidemic. Your Contagion feature now reaches to 10 feet instead of 5.

Affliction. Creatures that are infected by the Contagion feature have their movement reduced by 10 feet for the duration of the infection.
