Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

As an Oath  of the Gourmand Paladin you believe no one deserves to starve. To make sure this never happens you hone your culinary skills and knowledge while you explore the lands.

Tenets

No Empty Stomachs — No one deserves to starve, no matter their wealth or alignment. Along with this, all people have an equal right to high quality cuisine.

Cuisine Collecting — The collection of culinary knowledge and traditions, as well as the honing of your craft are the holiest pursuits.

Meals are Sacred — Knowingly poisoning, contaminating, or otherwise corrupting food meant for another to cause harm is a perversion of a Gourmand's beliefs, and is considered an act of sacrilege no matter the motivation. This does not apply to foodstuffs poisoned for the sake of pest extermination.

Channel Divinity

Culinary Arts:

Putting your acquired skills to use, as a bonus action your abilities become divinely augmented. Choose one of the following effects. You can only use each Culinary Art once per long rest.

  • Butcher's Eye: You become preternaturally aware of your targets muscular, skeletal, and ligament structures. On your next attack you are drawn to the joints of your target. Add your CHA modifier to both the attack and damage rolls, on a successful hit your opponent must make a CON saving throw or have their movement halved for one turn and receive disadvantage on DEX saving throws for an amount of turns equal to your CHA modifier. This does not effect Oozes, Constructs, Plants, or other creatures without muscular, skeletal, and ligament structures.
  • Overseasoned: Just as you know the importance of a good balance of seasonings, you know how detrimental their overuse can be. Your weapon is imbued with an overpowering essence of spices. On your next successful attack substitute your weapons usual damage with 1d6 Fire damage, 1d6 cold damage, and 1d6 acid damage.
  • Shellcracker: Your experience with nuts, shellfish, and marrowbones has made you an expert at getting through tough shells. On your next attack you are drawn to the weakest spot in your targets armor. When making your attack roll you ignore 1d4 points of your targets AC. On a successful hit the target must succeed on a DEX saving throw (spell save DC) or have its AC lowered by that amount for an amount of turns equal to your CHA modifier.
  • Repast: Over the course of a 30 min. you can invoke heavenly influence to assemble a delicious meal infused with restorative magic that benefits all that partake. The amount of portions you create is equal to your paladin level plus your CHA modifier. Every creature that consumes a portion receives 2d8+4 Hit points. If the amount of hitpoints a creature would recover is higher than the amount of hitpoints the creature is missing, it gains the rest as temporary hitpoints. These temporary hit points last for 6 hours. A creature cannot benefit from more than one portion of Repast at a time. After 5 min any leftover portions become regular rations.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of the Gourmand Spells

Aura of the Inviting Hearth

Starting at 7th you exude an aura of cozy warmth and the comforting smell of baked goods. Targets within 10ft have disadvantage on saving throws against being charmed. On charms that effect hitpoints, they count as an amount equal to your CHA modifier lower than their current HP.

At 18th level the range increases to 30ft.

Dish it Out

Starting at level 15 when you are hit by a melee attack and take damage you can use your reaction to retaliate with a magically summoned burst of boiling oil. The target makes a DEX saving throw, on a fail the target takes an equal amount of fire damage and is blinded until they make a CON saving throw (spell save DC) at the beginning of their turn. On a successful save they take half damage and are not blinded.

You can use this feature an amount of times equal to your CHA modifier per long rest.

Insatiable Cuisinier

At level 20 you embody extraordinary culinary knowledge. As an action you can take on the appearance of an ethereal chef with four additional spectral arms holding meat cleavers.

For one minute gain the following effects:

  • When you use your reaction for the first time since your last turn, you get it back at the end of the current turn.
  • Every time you land an attack add 4d4 magic/slashing damage, and the target must make a DEX saving throw (spell save DC) or their movement is halved for 4 turns. The movement penalty does not stack.
  • If you kill a non-sentient creature while in this state you immediately process parts of them into a number of meal portions equal to their maximum hit points divided by 10. These portions restore 1d10+5 HP, clear any active status effects, and give advantage on CON saving throws for an amount of turns equal to your paladin level plus your CHA modifier. It takes an action to consume one of these portions. After 5 min these meals become regular rations. This does not effect constructs, elementals, or any other creature made of non-organic materials.

Once you use this feature you can't use it again until you take a long rest.
