Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Control Undead. As an action, the paladin targets one undead creature he or she can see within 30 feet of him or her. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target must obey the paladin’s commands for the next 24 hours, or until the paladin uses this Channel Divinity option again. An undead whose challenge rating is equal to or greater than the paladin’s level is immune to this effect.

Rune Weapon. As an action, you can imbue one weapon that you are holding with negative energy, using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, you add your Charisma modifier in necrotic damage to damage rolls made with that weapon (with a minimum bonus of +1). You heal for 1/4 of the damage done, rounded down, with your melee attacks. If the weapon is not already magical, it becomes magical for the duration.

If you are no longer holding or carrying this weapon, or if you fall unconscious, this effect ends.

Unholy Nature

• Any spell you cast that does radiant damage will now do necrotic damage.
• Divine smite no longer does radiant damage and no longer does increased damage to fiends and undead. Instead, it does necrotic damage and increases by 1d8 if the target is a celestial or fey, to a maximum of 6d8.
• Your lay on hands feature is now called hand of death.
  

  • Your necrotic touch destroys flesh. You have a pool of necrotic power that replenishes when you take a long rest. With that pool, you can deal a total number of damage equal to your paladin level × 5.

    As an action, you can touch a creature and draw power from the pool to deal a number of hit points to that creature, up to the maximum amount remaining in your pool. The target must make a Constitution saving throw. The target takes the amount of points expended from your pool as necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Aura of Pestilence

Starting 7th level, you can use an action to surround yourself with a necrotic energy aura. The aura moves with you, centered on you. You can use a bonus action to cause an amount of creatures equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) within 10 feet of you to take 1d6 necrotic damage. You heal for 1/4 of the total damage done, rounded down.

The necrotic damage increases to 2d6 at 11th level, 3d6 at 16th level, and 4d6 at 20th level.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Unholy Spirit

Starting at 15th level, an unholy presence mends your wounds in battle. You regain hit points equal to 1d6 + half your paladin level if you end your turn in combat with fewer than half of your hit points remaining and you aren’t incapacitated.

Avatar of Death

At 20th level, you can assume the form of an avatar of death, taking on an appearance you choose. For example, your visage may become a shadow or skeletal. Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

• You have resistance to all damage.
• You cannot be charmed and are immune to the frightened condition. 
• Your walking speed is doubled and your movement is not affected by magical and non-magical terrain.
• Necrotic damage you do ignores resistance and immunity.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
