Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

Knight Jesters are fighters who are trained in the use of heavy weapons and armor but lack the binding to honor in combat. Corrupt city guards, dishonored knights and military deserters belong to this archetype. They where a fighter would focus their training on their combat skills, the Knight Jester hones their skills to find and utilize any and all tricks that might give them an edge in combat, no matter how dirty or low the trick might be. The end justifies the means.

Armament Prowess

When you choose this Archetype at 3rd level, you are gain proficiency in the use of Medium Armor, Shields and Martial Weapons.

Anything Goes

At 3rd level, you have become experienced in dirty fighting and exploiting vulnerabilities. Your knowledge of exploiting distractions, experience in cheap tactics and your training with weapons culminated in the knowledge of being able to make the best use of distractions and lowered guard even when you are not holding a weapon that's best suited to sneak attacks.

You can perform a Sneak Attack even if you are not using a Finesse or Ranged Weapon. All other rules of Sneak Attack still apply to you.

Extra Attack

Starting at 9th level, you can attack twice instead of once whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

Backstab

By 13th Level, you have mastered the ability to take advantage of the drop in a fleeing enemy's guard. As a Jester Knight, you are not above hitting someone when their back is turned. On the contrary, you are more than happy to stab them in the back.

You have advantage on opportunity attacks. Creatures provoke opportunity attacks from you even when they take the Disengage Action. Taking the disengage action removes the advantage on opportunity attacks that this feature grants. You cannot add extra damage from your Sneak Attack on this opportunity attack.

If you have taken the Sentinel Feat, you have advantage on opportunity attacks even if a creature take the Disengage Action.

I Wrote The Book

By the time you've reached 17th level, you have mastered every dirty trick in the book and then some. You can divert all your focus and wit into scanning the environment and exploiting even the tiniest of weakness in your enemies; using anything and everything at your disposal to gain an edge in combat, no matter how small that edge might be.

In battle, you quickly take in the surrounding environment with all your senses and concentrate all your wit into using everything at your disposal against your enemies. On your turn, you can enter a state of focus using a Bonus Action given to you by your Cunning Action.

While in this state of focus you gain the following benefits:

  • You can take the Dodge Action as part of your Cunning Action
  • You don't need advantage or any allies within 5ft of your target to use your Sneak Attack. You can use your Sneak Attack even if you have disadvantage on your roll.
  • You can add your INT modifier to the attack roll of any weapon attack you make.
  • You do not provoke opportunity attacks while you move. Opponents with the Sentinel feat still get attacks of opportunity against you.
  • If you are able to cast spells, you can use your Sneak Attack with Cantrips that are ranged spell attacks. You cannot use your Sneak attack with spells that do not do damage. You cannot use your Sneak Attack on spells that impose saving throws. You cannot use your Sneak Attack on any spell that is 1st level or higher.

If you are able to cast spells, you can still cast them in focus but you can't cast any spell that requires concentration and you can't hold your concentration on them while in focus. This focus lasts for one minute and ends early if you are knocked unconscious. You can also choose to end it early as a bonus action on your turn. You can enter this focus twice per long rest.
