Base Class: Barbarian
Blood for blood and life for life. The Path of the Reaver is wrought with the Barbarian’s blood and scars, and those of their foes. It is an ancient and near-forgotten tradition, one that demands its followers totally commit themselves to battle to achieve victory - or die in the attempt. They consume and sacrifice the life essence gathered in battle to fuel their rage and their blows.
Devouring Blow
When you choose this path at 3rd level, you embark on a bloodthirsty tradition and know how to empower your attacks with your life force. You gain two Blood Dice, which are d6s. When you hit a target with an attack while raging, you can roll one or more of your Blood Dice. You take necrotic damage equal to half the total (rounded down). This damage ignores your resistances. The target takes necrotic damage equal to the total.
When you reach certain levels in this class, you gain more Blood Dice: four at level 6, six at level 10 and eight at level 14. You regain all expended Blood Dice after a long rest.
Blood Thirst
Starting at 6th level, you are fuelled by the destruction of battle. While raging, you gain 1d6 temporary hit points whenever a hostile creature within 10ft. of you dies or becomes incapacitated. They vanish if any of them are left when your rage ends.
Painful Sacrifice
Starting at level 10, you infuse your energy into everything you do. You can use one of your Blood Dice when making an ability check or saving throw. You take necrotic damage equal to half the total. This damage ignores your resistances. You can then add the total to the ability check or saving throw roll. You can use this feature after the roll is made, but before the GM reveals the outcome.
Life Eater
Starting at level 14, the hit points you gain from your Devouring Essence feature increases to 1d8 and the feature’s range increases to 30ft.
