Base Class: Monk
Those who follow the way of the storm harness the power of thunder and lightning to unleash a multitude of attacks before their foe has felt the first one. Often followers of gods who hold domain over storms and seas these monks can often be found aboard ships attempting to calm the storms their ship sails through or even call storms upon other ships.
Maelstrom Strikes
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you are able to channel the power of thunder and lightning through your body.
When you make an unarmed strike you can choose to make the damage type thunder or lightning instead of bludgeoning.
When you take the dodge action or use your patient defence you ready a counterattack for any who dare to strike at you. While dodging if you take damage from a target within 20ft of you you can use your reaction to force the target to make a dexterity saving throw, DC is equal to 8 + proficiency bonus + wisdom modifier, on a failed save the target takes lightning damage equal to one roll of your martial arts die or half on a success.
Mantle of Storms
At 6th level, you can spend 2 ki points to wreath yourself in lightning for 1 minute increasing your speed and arcing lightning to nearby foes.
While under the effects of mantle of storms you gain the following benefits -
Your movement speed is increased by 10ft.
When you take the dash action or use your step of the wind attacks of opportunity made against you have disadvantage.
When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike you can arc lightning to another creature within 5ft of it dealing lightning damage equal to your wisdom modifier.
Lightning Wraith
Beginning at 11th level, when under the effects of Mantle of Storms and using a Dash or Step of the Wind you may enter a lightning form allowing you to pass through other creatures as if you were ethereal. Any creature you pass through must make a Constitution Saving Throw (DC equals your Ki Save DC) on a failed save the creature takes damage equal to 1 roll of your Martial Arts Die. Each creature can only be affected by this once per turn, if you end your turn in another creatures space you take force damage equal to 1 roll of your Martial Arts Die and and pushed to an unoccupied space within 5ft of the creature. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per Long Rest.
Herald of the Storm
At 17th level, you become one with the storm. While under the effects of your mantle of storms you may use your action to spend 3 ki points to call a bolt of lightning from the skies to strike at a point you can see. Targets within 5ft of the point must make a dexterity saving throw (DC equals your Ki save) on a failed save targets take 4d10 lightning damage, half on a successful save.. In addition whenever you use your action to call down lightning you may appear in an unoccupied space within 5ft of the target location, you may use your Flurry of Blows after appearing in this space.
