Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

While some see the night as a dangerous time to be avoided, those of the Dusk Domaion know it to be the sacred time of worship. The clerics of this domain see nightfall as welcoming instead of intimidating and usually focus on a particular aspect of the evening, whether it be the moon, the stars, or even the darkness itself. While followers of the Dusk Domaion don't harbor hate for those who worship light or the sun, they do see them as a bit foolish or ignorant, as they have yet to get over their fear of darkness and discover the true power of the night.

Clerics of the Dusk Domain range across every alignment, usually depending on the deity or aspect of the night they hold. Typical clerics of the domain worship Selûne, goddess of the moon and stars, Shar, goddess of darkness, or Noctra, goddess of the night.

Dusk Domain Spells

When you choose this domain, you gain the following spells:

1st: Fog Cloud, Sleep

3rd: Darkness, Moonbeam

5th: Creation, Dream

7th: Divine Word, Resurrection

9th: Time Stop, Weird

Bonus Ability

When you choose this domain at the 1st level, you gain Darkvision if you do not have it already. Due to your extensive study in the dark, your darkvision allows you to see up to 90 ft in dark or dim light as if it were bright light.

In the Dark

Also at the 1st level, you have advantage on vision-based ability checks (such as Perception or Investigation) when at night. This applies both indoors and outdoors.

Channel Divinity: Eclipsed

Starting at the 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to envelop your enemies in darkness.

When an opponent within 30 ft of you makes an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check, you can use a bonus action to cast a shade over them that gives disadvantage on that roll.

Shadow Leap

Starting at the 6th level, you are able to move in and out of shadows at will.

You are able to use the spell Misty Step to teleport 30 ft as a bonus action without expending a spell slot. Instead of turning into a silvery mist, your body seems to sink into the shadow closest to you then materializes out of darkness at your chosen location. Once you use this ability, you cannot use it again until after a short or long rest.

Lunar Strike

At the 8th level, you are able to infuse your attacks with the power of the moonlight. Once on each of your turns, when you hit an enemy with a melee weapon or spell, you may choose to deal an extra 1d8 radiant damage to the target. When this happens, your weapon or spell turns a pale silver and glows softly as it hits the target, immediately fading into darkness once it strikes.

When you reach the 14th level, the damage increases to 2d8.

Guiding Stars

At the 17th level, a circlet of small stars form around your head. These three softly glimmering lights are only visible to you and those that you choose to see it, as well as any other clerics of the Dusk Domain. As an action, you may remove a star and perform one of the following actions:

  • Blacken. You throw the star up to 30ft in any direction, and once you speak the command word its light blinks out, taking all nearby light in a 30 ft radius with it. All enemies within the radius are considered blinded for one round or until you use a bonus action to end it. This does not affect creatures with blindsight, but does affect creatures with darkvision.

  • Shine. You select yourself or a friendly creature within 50 ft of you that is Large or smaller to send the star to. Once it reaches the target, it erupts into several thousand smaller stars that twinkle and glow, making it difficult to look in its direction. Any attack made against the friendly creature has disadvantage for one round or until you use a bonus action to end it.

  • Ray. You choose an enemy you can see within 50 ft of you, and the star soars high above to cast a faint silver beam of moonlight on the target. The creature takes 1d6 radiant damage at the beginning of each of its turns for three rounds or if it spends an action to step out of the beam. You may use a bonus action to move the beam to another target or to end it.

Once you use one of these actions, the star returns to your head with a black glow instead of silver. An expended star can be used again at the next midnight.
