Base Class: Bard
Bards in the college of flyting are skilled wordsmiths, whose weapons of choice are insults and mockery. Many bards in this college are nobles trained in verbal combat, using their enemies' failure as a weapon in duels.
Ruthless Affront
When you choose this subclass at 3rd level, your insults become even more painful. You learn the vicious mockery cantrip. If you already know it, gain a different bard cantrip of your choice. Additionally, when you cast the vicious mockery cantrip, the damage die is replaced with your bardic inspiration die.
Always in my Thoughts
Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to sling insults even in writing. If you write an insult, you may spend 10 additional minutes and expend a spell slot, specifying one creature you are familiar with to infuse the quip with your magic. The first time the specified creature reads the message, they must make a wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or take psychic damage equal to your charisma modifier. If you used a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each level above 1st. After reading the message, the target knows who sent it. This feature has no effect on creatures that don't understand at least one language.
If you use this feature while you still have another message active, the first message ceases to be magical.
Battle of Slights
If you talk to a creature for at least one minute, you may make a charisma (performance) check, contested by the creature's charisma (performance) check. If you succeed, the target takes 1d4 psychic damage for each creature that can hear both of you within 60 feet of you (maximum of 8d4 damage). Once you use this ability, you may not use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
When you reach 11th level in this class, the damage die increase to a d6, and at 17th level, it increases again to a d8.
High Flyter
Beginning at 14th level, you are a force to be reckoned with, both in battle and conversation. Whenever you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points with the vicious mockery spell, you may immediately cast it again as a bonus action, targeting a different creature within range. Additionally, when you use your Battle of Slights feature, the maximum number of dice becomes 14.
