Base Class: Sorcerer
Your magical abilities and martial prowess originate from a distant ancestor of yours who were counted among legendary heroes of old - mortal folk who spent their lives accomplishing great deeds and slaying mighty foes. Since your ancestors passed to the world beyond, their feats have been catalogued in the annals of history and gods have sought to bless their bloodlines. Through your shared blessed bloodlines, you can tap into the strength and prowess of these past heroes, gaining their knowledge and skills to use as you see fit.
Most folks who possess such bloodlines hold important positions in society, being kings, nobles or heroes themselves. Some however, may unknowingly be descendants, and chalk their skills and magical might up to something else.
Hero’s Prowess
At 1st level, the memories and skills of your heroic ancestors run through your veins, granting them to you. You gain proficiency with light armor, shields and the Strength (Athletics) skill.
Ancestral Arms
Also at 1st level, you’ve learnt how to manifest the martial prowess of your ancestors in the form of a spectral melee weapon made from pure magical energy. As an action, you can summon your Ancestral Arms to your hand, and when you do so, you determine its appearance. Its appearance does not change any of its stats, and while holding it you can still perform the somatic components of a spell. As part of the same action you use to summon the weapon, and on subsequent turns as an action, you can make a single melee spell attack with it, dealing force damage equal to 1d10 + your Charisma modifier on a successful hit.
If you drop the weapon, or otherwise lose it, you can use your bonus action to make it reappear in your hand.
Avatar of Heroes
Starting at 6th level, you gain the ability to summon the might of your heroic ancestors to aid you in combat. As a bonus action, you can call upon the strength of your ancestors for 1 minute. You immediately gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your sorcerer level, and gain the following benefits for the duration:
- You have advantage on Strength and Dexterity ability checks and saving throws.
- You can attack with your Ancestral Arms twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
You can use this feature once per long rest.
Feats of Inspiration
Starting at 14th level, you unleash an aura of heroic inspiration whenever you defeat foes or perform impressive feats. When you reduce an enemy to 0 hit points, score a critical hit or roll a 20 on a saving throw, a number of creatures of your choice within 60 feet of you equal to your Charisma modifier gain temporary hit points equal to half of your sorcerer level rounded up, and have advantage on the next saving throw or attack roll they make.
Hero of Legends
Starting at 18th level, you’ve become a legendary hero yourself, making yourself worthy to wield the full might of your ancestors. You gain the following features:
- The force damage dealt by your Ancestral Arms feature increases to 2d10 + your Charisma modifier.
- While under the effect of your Avatar of Heroes feature, you are also immune to being frightened or charmed.
