Base Class: Ranger
The ranger and the Lesser Wyvern have a special bond, that goes deeper than just that of a solider and their mount. The ranger will care for the Lesser Wyvern and try above all else to keep it from perishing. Throughout the rangers progression, the Lesser Wyvern will grow and become stronger as his bond with the ranger intensifies. If the Lesser Wyvern fully dies, the ranger can find another throughout the campaign, but, the new Lesser Wyvern wont gain the benefits of a bloodline at level 15 ranger. In order for a ranger to gain another companion after his original one dies the following must happen:
- The ranger must spend one day searching for a Lesser Wyvern, and can be accompanied by the party.
- The ranger is the only party member that can be within 60ft of the Lesser Wyvern when the taming is attempted (a successful taming will be a DC 25 animal handling check, gaining 1DC each failed attempt up to 3 attempts)
- After one failed attempt, the Lesser Wyvern will initiate combat, but can still have attempts to be tamed.

Lesser Wyvern Bond
Starting at 3rd level, your bonded Lesser Wyvern joins you in combat. You can use this creature as a mount, costing half your movement to mount and dismount. Whilst mounted your movement speed is that of the Lesser Wyvern, and any spells that target yourself will also affect your Lesser Wyvern whilst you are mounted. You can use an action or bonus action to command your Lesser Wyvern to attack and move on your turn. If no command is given the Lesser Wyvern will take the dodge action, or, the help action if another ally is within 5ft of it.
Unmounted Combat Prowess
Starting at 7th level, your combat abilities increase with experience. Whilst dismounted and within 15ft of each other, you gain +3 to hit with melee attacks and +1 to hit with ranged attacks.
Synchronized Sight
Starting at 11th level, whilst mounted on your Lesser Wyvern you can use a bonus action to target one enemy with you companion with 120ft. Whilst targeted you gain advantage with ranged attacks or spells against that enemy.
Intensive Wyvern Bond and Selfless Act
Starting at 15th Level, the bond with your Lesser Wyvern is at its peak. Your Wyvern gains an extra 3d10 hit points, + 2 to its AC and its stinger gains a poison ability:
- The target must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw, taking 5d6 poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
As a reaction your Lesser Wyvern can chose to dive in front of an attack against you directly if your companion is within 30ft of you. If that attack is a melee attack, the attacker must make a DC10 + your ranger level strength saving throw or be knocked prone after dealing the attack damage.
Any Lesser Wyvern you tame from this point will have these benefits also.
Draconic Wyvern Bloodline
If the Lesser Wyvern that is with you when you reach 15th level is the same one you gained at 3rd level, your companion unlocks an ancient draconic bloodline giving it the following abilities (You must chose a draconic bloodline for your companion and it will be that bloodline from here out):
- Your Lesser Wyvern gains a breath weapon depending on its bloodline. The breath weapon deals damage in a 60ft cone, damage type dependent on its bloodline. Each creature in that area must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 15d6 damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. (This ability will recharge on a 5-6 at the start of the next turn)
- It grows two fully grown front legs increasing its walking speed to 40ft, it has a swim speed of 40ft
- It now breathes air and water
- It gains resistance to the damage type of its bloodline, and whilst you are riding it, you gain resistance to that damage type also.
If the wyvern that you have when you reach 15th level isn't your original companion, or is a tamed companion from above 15th level, the draconic wyvern bloodline feature does not apply.
