Base Class: Bard
The college of Frostwhisper produces bards that are more warrior than minstrel. Universally dour-faced and grim, the bards of this college use their mastery of magic to enforce their will, focusing not on the magic of song or music, but instead upon the power of few words spoken lightly and with conviction. Whispers upon the breeze, and shouts lost amongst the howl of a blizzard are the calling cards of the bards of this college. Any melodies they sing are sonorous in nature, causing their enemies to tremble, before the bards descend upon their targets in deathly silence and dispatch them with unearthly grace.
Bonus Proficiencies
When you join this college at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with medium armour, heavy armour, shields and martial weapons. Additionally, you never suffer disadvantage on stealth checks for wearing medium or heavy armour.
Silent as The Snow
Also at 3rd level, you are able to call upon silence as easily as one might draw a shroud over their shoulders. You learn the silence spell, which doesn't count against your number of bard spells known. When you cast the silence spell, you can do so without expending a spell slot. Once you have done so a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest. You may still cast the spell using a spell slot as normal, however.
Potent Spellcasting
When you reach 6th level, choose two of the following cantrips: chill touch, frostbite, ray of frost, thunderclap, toll the dead or vicious mockery. The chosen cantrips count as bard spells for you, and don't count against your number of bard cantrips known. Additionally, you can add your Charisma modifier to the damage you deal with any of the listed cantrips.
Inexorable as Ice
Also at 6th level, you gain the ability to draw strength from your calm, slow advance. Once per turn when you hit with a melee attack, you can cause the attack to deal an extra 2d8 cold damage if you have moved no more than half your speed on the same turn. Doing so reduces your speed to 0 until the end of the current turn. This damage increases to 2d10 at 10th level, and to 2d12 at 15th level.
Fearsome as Frost
At 14th level, you become a master of using silence and frost as weapons of terror. You no longer require verbal or somatic components to cast bard spells you know, and you have resistance to cold damage.
Additionally, you can use a bonus action to assume the form of a silent, frosty avatar for 1 minute, or until you are incapacitated or dismiss it (no action required). For the duration, you are immune to cold damage, and you emit an aura of magical silence in a 20-foot radius. No sound can be created or pass through this aura, and creatures and objects wholly within the aura are immune to thunder damage, and creatures wholly within the aura are deafened. Additionally, at the start of each of your turns, creatures of your choice in the area must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed saving throw, a creature is frightened of you for as long as it remains in your aura. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the aura for the rest of its duration.
Once you have assumed this frosty form, you cannot do so again until you finish a long rest.
