Base Class: Bard
Those who find themselves followers of the College of Puppetry are those who relish in the control of the things around them. These bards oft find themselves looking to manipulate and maneuver not only the objects around them but those they interact with as well, connecting strings of magic to those around them to pull and tug on as if they were simple puppets.
String Pulling
3rd-level College of Puppetry feature
You gain the ability to attach a translucent string of magic allowing you to subtly manipulate those around you whether to their benefit or detriment. When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you makes an attack roll, Strength or Dexterity saving throw, or an ability check that requires movement, you can expend one of your bardic inspiration dice to add or subtract the number rolled from their result. You can use this ability after they rolled but before the result is determined.
Bonus Proficiencies
3rd-level College of Puppetry feature
Your experience with puppets grants you proficiency in the Performance skill and Woodcarver's Tools. Also, if you make a Performance check while using your puppets you can add your Proficiency Bonus an additional time to the roll.
Puppet Master's Will
6th-level College of Puppetry feature
As your experience with puppets grows, you've developed the ability to exert your will over the willing. As an action, you can force a creature you can see within 30 feet of you to make a Strength or Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, they are Restrained and you can immediately force the creature to make an attack roll with a weapon it is wielding or to move up to half of its speed. As long as the creature is Restrained in this way you can use your action on each of your subsequent turns to force the creature to make another weapon attack roll or move up to half of its speed. The creature can reattempt the saving throw at the end of each of its turns. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus unless you expend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, expending higher level spell slots does not allow you to target additional creature. You can only bind one creature at a time with this ability. You regain all expended uses after you complete a Long Rest.
Puppet Show
6th-level College of Puppetry feature
You can now effortlessly manipulate objects you find in your day to day life. You've gained the ability to attach your strings to inanimate objects you encounter and manipulate them in a variety of ways. Objects manipulated in this way cannot have any abilities activated unless it requires the pulling of a lever, pushing of a button, or some other similar mechanical activation.
You can produce up to 10 strands of magic used to manipulate objects according to the following list:
- 2 strands to control 1 Tiny object
- 5 strands to control 1 Small object
- 10 strands to control 1 Medium object
A creature does not need to have hands or fingers to utilize this ability.
