Druid
Base Class: Druid

Druids of the Sand are native to arid, barren regions with little of what you could truly call nature. These druids hone their abilities by manipulating the sand and rock beneath their feet, drawing all important water from deep underground, and locating valuable minerals that can be used to create goods or for trade. These abilities make the druids highly valued by neighbouring communities, and they work hard to maintain the balance between a sparse ecosystem and the communities who depend on them.

Create Sandclone

2nd-level Circle of the Sands feature

You can form a duplicate of yourself out of sand, dirt or stone. As an action, you can expend one use of your Wild Shape feature to summon a sandclone, rather than assuming a beast form. The sandclone appears in an unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you. It is friendly to you and your companions and obeys your mental commands.

In combat, the sandclone shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. On your turn, you can command the sandclone to move (no action required by you). The only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action.

The sandclone lasts for a number of hours equal to half your druid level (rounded down), until it is reduced to 0 hit points, until you expend another use of your Wild Shape Feature, or until you fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die. You can dismiss your sandclone early as a bonus action on your turn.

Actions

Attack The sandclone makes one weapon attack using a sandy version of a weapon you are wielding. If you are wielding a magic weapon, the sandclone uses the non-magical equivalent. If you are not wielding a weapon, the sandclone makes an unarmed strike, using natural weapons granted from your race if you have any.

Cantrip The sandclone casts one of your cantrips that has a casting time of 1 action or 1 bonus action, and does not require concentration. The sandclone is treated as a first level spell caster, and its spellcasting ability is the same as your spellcasting ability when using that cantrip.

*The sandclone uses your corresponding game statistics in several places, ignoring any bonuses granted by magical items or temporary effects.

Shifting Sands

6th-level Circle of the Sands feature

By surrounding yourself in a veil of sand, you can teleport to your sandclone, causing it to explode and instantly reform where you were standing. When you are targeted by an attack or forced to make a saving throw, you can use your reaction to attempt to switch places with your sandclone. If the sandclone is within 300ft of you, you both switch places instantaneously and the sandclone becomes the target of the attack or must make the saving throw. If the sandclone is not within 300 ft the magic fizzles out and nothing happens. You must use this reaction before the attack roll or saving throw is made.

You can use this feature twice, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Army of the Sands

10th-level Circle of the Sands feature

Your attunement to the very earth beneath your feet allows you to control multiple sandclones at once. When you use your Create Sandclone feature, you can summon two sandclones. Alternatively, you can expend two uses of your wildshape feature to summon three sandclones. When you command a sanclone as a bonus action, you can issue a separate command to each of your sandclones as part of the same bonus action.

Resonant Spellcasting

14th-level Circle of the Sands feature

When you create a sandclone, you tune a harmonic resonance between the grains of sand that form its body. You can channel magic through one of your sandclones as a bonus action, causing it to cast one of your prepared spells on its turn. The spell must be of 4th level or lower, have a casting time of 1 action or 1 bonus action, and cannot require concentration. You must expend one of your spell slots of the same level or higher to do so, and you must provide any material components that are consumed by the spell.

You can use this feature twice, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
