Base Class: Monk
Monks from the Way of the Unseeing Eye believe that in order to achieve their perfect self, they have to sacrifice their mortal vision and open their "Inner Eye." These monks will often blindfold themselves for years behind the walls of their monasteries, or train in complete darkness in order to hone their other senses to perceive the world. They trust that only by removing one's reliance on sight can the Inner Eye be opened, and once it is, they will see the world for what it truly is.
The Way of the Unseeing Eye grants these monks incredible powers of perception in exchange for their sight. At higher levels they are even capable of robbing others of their senses.
Vision of the Inner Eye
When you choose this Monastic Tradition at 3rd level, you can use a Bonus Action on your turn to enter into a meditative state that opens your Inner Eye. While your Inner Eye is active you can better perceive and predict things that are happening immediately around you. While you are using your Inner Eye the following applies to you:
- Unless you are deafened, you have blindsight with a radius equal to twice your Monk’s Unarmored Movement Bonus. Within that range, you can effectively see anything that isn’t behind total cover, even if you’re blinded or in darkness. Moreover, you can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from you. You are blind beyond this range.
- Once per turn, if you’ve already taken your reaction, you may spend 1 ki point to take an additional reaction.
- When you make a Wisdom Ability Check, you can roll your Monk's Martial Arts die and add it to the total.
You can choose to end your Inner Eye as a bonus action on your turn. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious.
Eye for an Eye
At Level 6, whenever a creature hits you with a melee weapon attack, you can use your Reaction to do one of the following.
- Give yourself advantage on the next attack you make against that creature before the end of your next turn.
- Reduce the amount of damage from the attack by your Martial Arts Die.
- Immediately move up to half your movement speed without provoking an attack of opportunity from that creature.
Mark the Scent
Beginning at 11th level, you can spend 1 ki point to mark the scent of any creature or item within your Inner Eye radius for the next 24 hours, or until you use this feature again. If it's a creature, you immediately learn that creature’s type, and what poisons or diseases are affecting it (if any). If your marked scent is within 1000 ft. of you while your Inner Eye is active, you know its direction and distance from you. 1 inch of solid material blocks this ability, but the mark's scent doesn't have to follow a straight line and can travel freely around corners or through openings. You also have advantage on Wisdom (Survival) and Wisdom (Perception) checks to track a marked creature.
Sight Beyond Sight
When you activate your Vision of the Inner Eye, you can spend 4 ki points to gain truesight within its radius. This extra sense ends after 10 minutes or until your Vision of the Inner Eye ends, during which time no creature within the vision's range can make an attack roll with advantage against you, unless you’re incapacitated.
