Base Class: Warlock
These ancient spirits have existed since the dawn of time, but have always been watchers of the ways of mortals, unable to directly influence the Material Plane or its inhabitants. Though they hold great power, these spirits need a conduit through which to express this power. A warlock of the Unseen Master is bound to one of these spirits. Having either been the subject of a ritual in childhood in which a cultist offered the child for the spirit's aid, or having subjected themselves to the spirit willingly in search of power, a warlock of the Unseen Master has a constant companion in their patron.
The spirit inhabiting the warlock of the Unseen Master is always with the person they are bound to, feeding them ever-increasing amounts of their power, and even socialising with them to pass the time. Some even befriend their hosts. A warlock of the Unseen Master is the only one capable of seeing their patron, and the patron's appearance is indicative of the relationship shared between the two of them.
Once bound to a warlock, the spirit can begin to subtly influence the things around it. The spirit's final goal is to empower their warlock, growing their strength and magical tolerance enough for the master to overtake the warlock's body and gain complete access to the Material Plane.

Unseen Companion
Starting at 1st level, the effects of the unseen servant spell are always active around you, and cannot be dispelled. You do not control this unseen servant: it is the avatar of your patron, and as such, it is controlled by your Unseen Master (and by extension, the DM). As a bonus action, you can attempt a Charisma (Persuasion) check against your patron in order to convince them to aid you as a regular unseen servant might.
Unseen Surprise
Starting at 6th level, you can swap places with your Unseen Master as a reaction. When you are targeted for a spell or weapon attack that beats your AC, you can use your reaction to magically teleport to the space in which your Unseen Master resides, while the Unseen Master is teleported to the location that you had departed from. The triggering enemy of this reaction must also succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your warlock spell save DC or suffer 1d10 psychic damage and be frightened of you for 1 minute, as the Unseen Master releases eldritch terrors into the mind of the attacker.
Once you use this feature, you cannot do so again until the end of your next long rest.
Unseen Evolution
Starting at 10th level, you gain resistance to psychic damage, and become invulnerable to having your thoughts read. If your mind is read through magical or psionic means, the perpetrator automatically fails to gleam any information, and must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. On a failure, the perpetrator must roll on the Short-Term Madness Table (on page 258 of the Dungeon Master's Guide) and suffer the consequences.
Unseen Channelling
Starting at 14th level, you have become strong enough for the Unseen Master to channel more of its raw power through you. Once per long rest, for 1 minute, and as a bonus action, you can call on your Unseen Master to channel more of its power directly into you, and you gain the following benefits for the duration:
- You gain unlimited access to your Unseen Surprise feature.
- You gain advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects
- You gain immunity to being charmed and frightened, and cannot be possessed. If you are under possession when this feature is activated, that possession is ended.
At the DM's discretion, the Unseen Master can activate this feature of its own accord. You regain the use of this feature after your next long rest.
