Base Class: Monk
Many monks pride themselves on their deft use of swift and precise movements to carry out devastating offense on their adversaries, but the Way of the Wild Beast Monk instead channels the ferocity of the wilds, using martial prowess inspired by powerful beasts to pummel their opponents to dust and make potential enemies cower in fear.
Bestial Fervor
Starting at 3rd level when you select this archetype, you take martial inspiration from the ferocious wilds using your ki to enhance your own body to perform superhuman martial arts. You gain the ability to spend 1 ki point to enter a state of fervor as a bonus action. While in this state your muscles flood with ki, strengthening your body and senses. You gain the following benefits:
- You gain the ability to add both your Strength and Dexterity modifiers to the damage rolls of successful melee attacks.
- You become more resistant to external forces acting on your body, granting you advantage on Constitution saving throws.
- You can use your Strength modifier in place of your Wisdom modifier for the purposes of your ki save DC.
- You gain advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks against Beast creatures.
If you can cast spells, you cannot cast or concentrate them while in this state.
Your fervor costs 1 ki per round to maintain, you can choose to allow the state to end or continue it at the start of your turn. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious or run out of Ki points.
Resonant Strikes
At level 6 your fervor empowered blows can also penetrate deep within the enemy, reverberating through their body and shaking them internally. While in the fervor state, after performing a successful unarmed strike on a creature you can use the Stunning Strike feature without expending ki points.
Roar of the Apex
Starting from 11th level, when you enter your fervor you may use 3 Ki points to roar loudly as an action, any enemies who can hear you must succeed in a Wisdom saving throw against your ki save DC or be stunned. Beast creatures must make this roll with disadvantage.
Surpass the Wilds
At 17th level, you have innovated on your martial method to the point of surpassing your own inspirations. Your ability to enhance your body in fervor is strengthened and while in that state you gain these additional benefits:
- +1 to AC, this is calculated in addition to unarmored defense.
- You can reroll 1s on the damage dice of your unarmed strikes.
- You gain a keen sense of creatures around you, when making melee attacks against enemies who are heavily obscured, you do not suffer disadvantage and instead roll as normal.
- When you score a critical hit you regain 1 ki point.
