Base Class: Barbarian
Used by those who wish to lock down their opponents and render them helpless, chains are a deadly weapon when wielded by those who possess the exceptional strength required to properly use them. You have learned how to wield chains with deadly efficiency, throwing your weight around while pulling both foes and allies alike, either saving or condemning them.
(This homebrew is to be used with the Barbed Spear-tip Chain weapon which was homebrewed by me as well. Alternative, you can use any other chain weapon that can be used logically with this subclass)
Bonus Proficiency
When you choose this primal path, at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the barbed spear-tip chain.
Your Hook save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier.
Chain Grab
Starting at 3rd level, you can pull creatures towards you with your chain. When you hit a creature with your chain, you can choose to immediately use your bonus action to force the creature to make a Strength saving throw against your hook save DC. A willing creature can choose to fail this saving throw. On a failed saving throw, the creature is pulled 20 feet closer to you. If they fail, the chain returns to your hand. Alternatively, you can choose to instead grapple the enemy using the normal rules for grappling instead.
Thrashing Chain
Starting at 6th level,
When you use your Reckless Attack, you can choose to thrash your chain wildly, whipping it towards a creature you choose within 10 feet of you. The creature you hit must make a strength saving throw against your hook save DC. On a failed saving throw, the creature is flung 10 feet away from you in a straight line.
Additionally, when you are grappling a creature using your chain, you can use a bonus action to restrain the creature. To do so, make another grapple check against the creature.
Chains of Pain
Starting at 10th level,
When you choose to pull, grapple, or restrain a creature using your chain, the creature takes the chains normal damage if the creature fails to resist any of the three mentioned actions.
Additionally, if a creature is grappled or restrained at the beginning of your turn, you can use a bonus action to tighten the chain, dealing 2d4 bludgeoning damage. Alternatively, you can choose to use your bonus action to whip the blunt end of the chain around the enemy increasing the DC of your hook saves and giving a bonus to your grapple/restrain (Athletics) checks equal to your proficiency bonus.
Master Chain Warden
Starting at 14th level, your expertise with the chain is unmatched. Attacking at long range doesn't impose disadvantage on your long distance weapon attack rolls using your chain. Additionally, when you use your Chain Grab feature, you pull the creature 30 feet, instead of only 20.
Additionally, when grappling or restraining a creature with your chain, you can use your bonus action to whip your chain with immense force. The creature must make a strength saving throw against your hook save DC, or be flung 15 feet in any direction you choose.
