Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

You have a connection to a mysterious weapon—perhaps a family heirloom, a lost sword that you found in a tomb, or a blade that appeared to you in a dream.  No matter its origin, it has chosen you and granted you power.

Soul Blade

At 1st level, choose a simple or martial melee weapon—this is your soul blade, the weapon that granted you the powers you now possess.  You are proficient with that weapon and weapons of the same type.  You can use your soul blade as a spellcasting focus for sorcerer spells.  Also, your AC increases by 2 while you are wielding your soul blade.  The blade vanishes when you aren’t wielding it.  You can draw or stow it in the same way that you would a normal weapon, either conjuring it from or dismissing it to an extradimensional space.

Soulblade Spells

Also starting at 1st level, you learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown below. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level.  The new spell must be an abjuration or transmutation spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list.

Sorcerer Level             Spells

1                                  Booming Blade, Shield, Zephyr Strike

3                                  Flame Blade, Spiritual Weapon

5                                  Elemental Weapon, Haste

7                                  Death Ward, Staggering Smite

9                                  Banishing Smite, Steel Wind Strike

Martial Prowess

Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice instead of once when you take the Attack action on your turn.  You can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.  Also, your attacks with your soul blade are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Light the Blade

Also starting at 6th level, you can use a bonus action to expend sorcery points to empower your soul blade—it gains a bonus to attack and damage rolls equal to the number of sorcery points spent (to a maximum of +3).

Superior Imitation

At 14th level, you gain the ability to mimic other weapons with your soul blade.  As a bonus action, you can transform your soul blade into another weapon you have seen.  You are proficient with that weapon, and ignore any race, class, or other restrictions on it.  Also, if the copied weapon requires attunement, you immediately become attuned to it, even if you are already attuned to the maximum number of items.  This transformation lasts until the end of your next turn.  You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Heroic Inheritance

At 18th level, you learn to channel the knowledge of your soul blade’s previous wielders—as a bonus action, you can enter a state of heightened abilities.  While in this state, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your AC increases by your Charisma modifier.
  • Your speed increases by 15 feet.
  • You have advantage on Strength and Dexterity checks.
  • You can make one additional attack when you take the Attack action on your turn, and you can cast one of your cantrips in place of any number of those attacks.

These benefits last for one hour or until you are incapacitated.  Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
