Base Class: Barbarian
Wizardry and magic inspire hope and excitement in some. But to others, they represent an enormous liability to public safety. Mage slayers come from all walks of life, with motivations ranging from pure to deranged, in the hopes of curtailing the unlimited power of casters.
There is a misconception that barbarian rage comes from a place of irrational emotion, or that they despise the existence of civilization or technology. Mage slayers defy this stereotype. They do not necessarily have underlying anger issues or a distaste for cities and modern conveniences. Instead, their barbaric rage comes from sheer distress at what havoc magic can wreak with no rules, limits or supervision. And so these mage slayers take it upon themselves to monitor and hunt down dangerous magic users who refuse to consider or care about the consequences of their actions.
When choosing the Path of the Mage Slayer, consider why you might be baller enough to oppose the most powerful mortals in the realm. Were you trained to protect important people from the schemes of power-hungry sorcerers? Did a druid steal your boyfriend? Or did you see one too many foolish teenagers sign a pact with a unthinkable being from another dimension with no thought on how it might affect the local economy?
