Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Crashing Wave is for the monk who wishes to challenge themselves in watery terrain. With several unique abilities, the Way of the Crashing Wave is the perfect seafaring ability set, in tune with the breath of Beruna (Goddess of the Sea and Surf) herself.

Indomitable Stomach

Having learned much about the world, this feature allows the monk to attempt a Bite attack (1d4) on a water-dwelling creature. On a success, the monk gains 5 temporary hit points. On a failure, they lose 1 hit point.

Free Style

Free Style is when a monk comes into their own after gaining a familiarity with the abilities of their body and mind. The monk now has a swim speed equal to their land speed. Not only are they faster underwater, like a dolphin, but they have gained the strength to combat the natural drag of water when engaged in combat underwater, incurring no disadvantage to melee attacks.

Crashing Fists

By spending two ki points, Crashing Fists allows the monk to add 2d6 of force damage to their unarmed strikes for three rounds.

Riptide Aspect

Like the riptide, this aspect has two options: strength or stealth. The Slippery Riptide option allows the monk to spend a ki point to gain advantage on breaking a grapple, using their Dexterity modifier instead of Strength. The Swept Away option allows the monk to spend 3 ki points to gain a surprise action upon an opponent at the beginning of combat.

Slippery Riptide

Using the Slippery Riptide aspect, a monk can spend a ki point to gain advantage in breaking a grapple, on themselves or on others, as well as use their Dexterity modifier instead of their Strength modifier in a contested grapple roll.

Swept Away

This riptide aspect allows the monk to spend three ki points at the beginning of combat to gain a surprise round on their attacker, prior to initiative.
