Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Your patron is an ancient being related to the undead, such as Daurgothoth, Orcus, Strahd, or Vecna, who had survived through or witnessed the collapse of the Negative Energy plane into the Shadowfell and the Elemental Chaos. Warlocks of these undead patrons are granted access to shreds of magic of the shattered plane, gaining the ability to manipulate what remains of its shadowy powers, known as the Void, to their whim.

Expanded Spell List

The Void lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.

Void Expanded Spells
SPELL LEVEL SPELLS
1st false life, inflict wounds
2nd blur, silence
3rd bestow curse, nondetection
4th greater invisibility, phantasmal killer
5th antilife shell, contagion

Gift of the Void

Starting at 1st level, you have darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.

If you later gain the Pact of the Chain feature, you can choose a shadow as a form for find familiar in addition to the other choices, except when the shadow hits with its Strength Drain attack,  you gain 1d4 temporary hit points while it is within 100 feet of you instead of reducing the target's Strength score, and if the shadow slays a creature, a new shadow does not rise from the corpse.

Aura of Darkness

Starting at 1st level, you can emanate an aura that creates darkness around you. As a bonus action, you can activate the aura and gain the following:

  • Magical darkness obscures the area around you. Nonmagical light can't illuminate the darkness.
  • You can sense everything within the darkness as if you have blindsight.

The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction and around corners, but not through total cover. It ends if you become incapacitated or end the effect as a bonus action.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Empowered Darkness

Starting at 6th level, you learn the darkness spell if you don't already know it, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you know. You can also cast it once without a spell slot, and you regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest.

The area of your aura includes the area affected by your darkness spell while the aura is active. You can use your bonus action each turn to move the darkness spell to a new point within range and line of sight of your person.

Void Jaunt

Starting at 10th level, you learn to use the Void to augment your travel. You can use a bonus action to teleport to an unoccupied space within your aura.

You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Glimpse of the Void

Starting at 14th level, you can call upon your patron to grant a glimpse of the Void to others. As an action, each creature of your choosing within your aura must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, a target is afflicted with short-term madness for 1 minute. A character afflicted with short-term madness is subjected to an effect from the Short-Term Madness table. A target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. Undead and constructs are immune to this effect.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
