Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Keepers were a unique order of monks, known for their special attunement to nature and wildlife, specifically our smaller more forgotten wildlife of insects. Using their ki and almost druid like abilities the Keepers can call on their diminutive friends to assist with them in a multitude of ways. From helping them fight, to assisting in movement to even healing poisons.

Stinging Swarm

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can call upon the stinging friends of nature to descend upon your foes.

You gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action. This special attack is a ranged spell attack with a range of 50 feet. You are proficient with it, and you add your Dexterity modifier to its attack and damage rolls. Its damage is piercing, and its damage die is a d4. This die changes as you gain monk levels, as shown in the Martial Arts column of the Monk table.

When you take the Attack action on your turn and use this special attack as part of it, you can spend 1 ki point to make the special attack deal additional poison damage equal to your Martial arts die, additional spending of ki points up to 3 can be used to add more Martial Art die in poison damage as well.

When you gain the Extra Attack feature, this special attack can be used for any of the attacks you make as part of the Attack action.

Buzzing movement

When taking this tradition at 3rd level you gain the ability to use your insects to augment your movements, by spending 1 ki point as a bonus action you can gain one of the following benefits for a number of minutes equal to your proficiency bonus:

• Your walking speed increases by 10 feet, and you can take the Disengage action as a bonus action.

• You gain a climb speed equal to your walking speed. You can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without making an ability check.

• You gain a flying speed of 20 feet and can hover.

You can spend additional ki points to gain more of the features at once.

Bug Rider

At 6th level, you gain the ability to create a loyal insect mount. As an action you can turn an insect of your choice into a giant version of itself to act as a mount. By spending 3 ki points you cast a lesser version of giant insect and make a loyal insect companion for a number of hours equal to your proficiency bonus.

Plague of Insects

At 11th level, you gain the ability to form a swarming sphere of biting, stinging and gnawing insects. As an action, you can create a 20 foot orb of attacking insects within 100 feet to damage the creatures within it's zone of terror.

Each creature in that 20-foot-radius sphere must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 2d10 piercing damage. A creature doesn’t need to make the save if the creature is behind total cover that is opaque.

You can increase the sphere’s damage by spending ki points. Each point you spend, to a maximum of 3, increases the damage by 2d10.

Entomological Transformation

At 17th level, your body becomes Insectoid, changing your appearance and creating an aura of deafening droning buzzing sound in a 10 foot radius of you. You can activate this transformation using a bonus action. You take on a insect like appearance, like antennae growing from your forehead, butterfly or dragonfly wings sprouting from your back, sections of your body growing a sharpened carapace.

  • While in this form you gain a permanent flying speed equal to your movement speed.

  • If a creature walks into your buzzing aura they take thunder equal to 5 + your Wisdom modifier for each turn they start there.

  • While in this form your unarmed attacks deal an additional 1d6 Slashing damage per attack.
