Druid
Base Class: Druid

Druids belonging to the Circle of the Bleeding Thorn use their own blood to spread Bloodseeds and cultivate strange gardens across the land.

Requisite Feature

D&D Beyond requires a level 3 feature for druids - this is empty.

Bloodseed

At 2nd level, you've gained the ability to create a Bloodseed from a droplet of blood. Each day you may draw your blood, taking 1 point of damage, and create two Bloodseeds, or you may draw blood from another living creature. Bloodseeds last for 24 hours before turning to ash. You may create an additional Bloodseed per day at 4th, 8th, 12th, and 16th level.

Once used, you cannot create more Bloodseeds until you finish a long rest.

Sow the Fallen

As an action, you may plant a Bloodseed into the wound of a living creature. The Bloodseed rapidly grows in the wound, its roots and small vines becoming flesh. The seed will heal the target for 1d4 + your Wisdom modifier at the start of its turn for a number of rounds equal to half your druid level (rounded down).

Alternatively, as an action, you may plant a Bloodseed on a deceased creature and infuse it with magic to germinate the sapling inside. Red vines and roots quickly spread from the seed and envelope the body, radiating and pulsing with a red glow. Any number of creatures within a 30 foot radius of the sapling may benefit from a short rest and gain temporary hit points equal to your druid level after spending 10 minutes in the glow.

As the sapling grows over time, the benefits of its glow increase as well. If left undisturbed for 24 hours, the sapling will mature into a Bloodfruit Tree, or the Mature Bloodflora of your choice for which you meet the level requirement.

Mature Bloodflora

Bloodfruit Tree: A bloodfruit tree will produce 1d4 fruit every day that each restore 1d6 + half your druid level (rounded down). The fruit decomposes in 24 hours if not consumed.

Giant Corpse Flower: At the start of your turn, the flower emits a 20 foot cube of pungent gas, forcing creatures within range to make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failure, the target is poisoned until the end of your next turn. Upon success, the target resists the effect. Druid Level Requirement: 4th

Seeping Willow: At the start of your turn, red sap drips from the dangling branches beneath its 10 foot wide canopy, forcing creatures within range to make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failure, the target is restrained until the end of your next turn. Upon success, the target's speed is halved. Druid Level Requirement: 8th

Biting Bush: At the start of your turn, the bush lashes out with thorny vines at all targets within 5 feet, dealing piercing damage equal to 1d6 + half your druid level (rounded down) to all targets within range that fail a dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. Druid Level Requirement: 12th

Call of the Bloodthorn

At 6th level, you may expend a use of Wildshape as a bonus action to instead take on the form of a Bloodthorn Treant.

Alternatively, you may expend a use of Wildshape to awaken a Sapling planted from a Bloodseed. The sapling becomes a Bloodthorn Treant that shares your initiative count, but takes its turn immediately after yours. On your turn, you can verbally command the treant where to move (no action required by you). You can use your bonus action to verbally command it to take any action in its stat block. If you don't issue a command, the treant takes the Dodge action. The treant remains alive for an number of hours equal to half your druid level (rounded down). It then withers and rots as the land reclaims it.

Thornsight

At 10th level, your connection to the Bloodseeds you have planted deepens as they become extensions of yourself. As a part of a ritual taking 10 minutes, you may shunt your vision and hearing, as the spell Scrying, to the location of one of your living Mature Bloodflora. The Bloodflora acts as an immobile sensor, allowing you to observe the area around it.

You may use this ability once per long rest.

Blood Banyan

At 14th level, you may create a special Bloodseed that matures into a Blood Banyan after one month. The Blood Banyan is a sentient being of powerful blood magic that is covered in thorns and emits a deep, red glow that provides the benefits of Sow the Fallen - Deceased.

Once per long rest, you may partake in a blood ritual to connect to your Blood Banyan as the spell Commune. Your feet must be touching natural earth to establish your connection.

Additionally, when you are dealt a lethal blow, your body becomes liquid blood that seeps into the ground. After 1 week, the Blood Banyan bears a fruit that holds your body inside. You emerge naked from the fruit within 5 feet of the Blood Banyan.

Only one Blood Banyan can exist at any given time that has been planted by you.
