Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Analyze a creature and learn it's weaknesses.

Vanguard Magic

Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Vanguard Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn't count against the number of ranger spells you know.

Vanguard's Mark

At 3rd level, you can learn the weaknesses of enemies when you engage them in combat. When you hit a creature with an attack, you can make a Wisdom (Insight) check against that creature's AC. Alternatively, you can use your action to focus your attention on a creature you can see within 60 feet of you and make the same Wisdom (Insight) check. If the creature is your Favored Enemy, you make this check at advantage. If the check succeeds you mark that creature and gain one of the benefits listed below to use against it. A benefit gained by this feature lasts a number of minutes equal to your Wisdom modifier or until it is used, and you can choose to use it at any time.

  • An attack roll you make against that creature is made at advantage.
  • An attack you make against that creature ignores damage resistances, and treats immunity to that damage as resistance.
  • A saving throw or ability check you force that creature to make is made at disadvantage.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to 1 + your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Combat Initiate

At 7th level, something. If a creature under one of the effects of your Vanguard's Mark moves within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to move up to your movement speed towards or away from that creature, and either make one weapon attack against it, or cast a spell you know targeting it.

Masterful Senses

At 11th level, your resourcefulness and cunning are unparalleled. You gain proficiency in all skill checks that rely on your Wisdom modifier. If you are proficient in one or more Wisdom skill before gaining this feature, you can choose an Intelligence or Charisma skill to gain proficiency in for each Wisdom skill you are proficient in.

Omnipotent

Starting at 15th level, choose a type of enemy: aberrations, beasts, celestials, constructs, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, giants, monstrosities, oozes, plants, or undead. Alternatively, you can select two races of humanoid (such as gnolls and orcs) as favored enemies. You can switch the enemy you have chosen for this feature when you finish a long rest.

While you have chosen an enemy from this list, you can treat those creatures as your favored enemy when you use your Vanguard's Mark against them.
