Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

While some barbarians are granted rage as a tool of violence, the source of your rage stems from liberation. Barbarians on the Path of the Branded come from a lineage of slaves who earned their freedom through the capturing of shamanistic magics, which are channeled through supernatural brands that adorn the barbarian’s body.

Still bearing the ritualistic brands of the ancients, barbarians of this oath once harnessed their rage to overthrow the mages who enslaved them; though long since freed, these brands continue to grant advantages against those who wield magic. Large and scarrified, your brands glow with a rightgeous fury when active imbuing you with their power.

Brand of the Liberated

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd, you gain the Brand of the Liberated, increasing your resilience to harmful magics.

While you are raging, you gain resistance to all damage dealt by spells.

This mark glows while you are raging, harkening back to your roots. You shed bright light out to 5 feet, and dim light out an additional 5 feet. This light may be any color of your choosing.

As you gain additional brands, they also glow in this manner.

Brand of Insurrection

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you gain the Brand of Insurrection, imbuing you with the ability to cast down your foes and stifle their magics.

While you are raging and when you hit a creature with a weapon attack you may choose to inflict an additional amount of damage equal to 3d6 Force Damage. You may also choose to drain a number of spell levels of any combination from the creature equal to half the damage dealt this way. For example, if you deal 6 Force damage you could drain 3 first level spell slots, 1 first level spell slot and 1 second level spell slot, or 1 third level spell slot. Spell slots drained in this way are wasted and produce no effect.

This feature deals an additional d6 Force Damage upon reaching 5th, 9th, 13th, and 17th level in this class.

You may use this feature a twice. You regain one use upon entering a rage, and all uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Brand of the Guarded Mind

Beginning at 6th level, you earn the Brand of the Warded Mind, providing you a flexible measure of mental protection.

When you enter a rage you gain proficiency in your choice of Wisdom, Intelligence, or Charisma saving throws for the duration of that rage. You may change the proficiency granted by this feature each time you use it.

Brand of Cleansing

Beginning at 10th level, you gain the Brand of Cleansing, allowing you to free yourself and others from the bonds of binding magics.

You may cast Dispel Magic or Freedom of Movement without the need to provide verbal, somatic, or material components. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells, and you may cast these spells while raging.

While you remain conscious and are suffering from the paralyzed or incapacitated conditions you retain the ability to use your action, however, you may only use that action to cast a spell using this feature.

Once you cast either spell using this feature, you must finish a Long Rest before you are able to do so again.

Brand of Wrathful Warding

Starting at 14th level, you gain the brand of Wrathful Warding, allowing you to bolster your defenses and punish those who breach them.

While you are raging and are subjected to a spell or ability that allows you to make a saving throw or you are attacked, you may use your reaction to add 1d4 to either your saving throw against the triggering effect or your Armor Class against the triggering attack, potentially changing a failure to a success or causing the attack to miss.

If you use this feature and fail the triggering saving throw or take damage from the attack, your weapon attacks gain a bonus to their damage rolls equal to 1d8 Force damage until the end of your next turn.
