Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

As a barbarian of the critter, you are able to speak with animals at will, simply through a natural understanding of them. Through gesturing and grunting, a barbarian of the critter is able to commune with beasts, much like a druid or a ranger. Whether they throw rats at their enemies, chase them down with bees, or ride into battle on a reindeer, a barbarian of the critter must be creative. Their unique skill has much potential, however without a direct combat technique, critter barbarians will often form their own personal tactics for battle.

A barbarian who follows the path of the Critter is most commonly taught up through experience. It is through desertion, abandonment, or simply through living in the wild that a critter barbarian is formed. It does happen though, that their techniques are taught through family. There exist human critter barbarian tribes, usually consisting of not more than a single family. These have developed their technique through generations, and are usually much more refined, though rough and barbaric by nature.
It is through tribes like this that they have become famous within childrens stories, and renowned within the likes of the archdruids.

Familiar Presence

Starting when you pick this subclass at level 3, you gain proficiency with animal handling and nature. If you already have proficiency, you gain expertise.

You have advantage on any check made to communicate to animals, regardless if it is using language or not.

You may use strength instead of charisma for any intimidation or persuasion check made against any beast.

Wild Leader

When you enter a rage, you may point at a, or a group of (ex. an anthill, beehive) willing beasts with a challenge rating below 2, and speak a simple command, no longer than a sentence, which they will follow to the best of their ability. if they are not willing, you may make an intimidation check at disadvantage to persuade them, with a dc based on the table below. If they fail, they will follow the command until your rage ends.
Until your rage ends you may use an action to say another command, targetting the same beast(s).

Starting at 10th level you lose disadvantage on your intimidation check, and at 14th level you gain advantage.

DC for persuasion checks (based on challenge rating)
Persuading anything which considers you an enemy will add +5 to the DC
CR:                   DC:
1/4(or lower)   5
1/2                   10
1                       15
2                       20
For every level above 2, add 5 to the DC.

Call of the Swarm

Beginning at 6th level, when you use your wild leader feature you can target any beast within 60ft that can either hear, see, or touch you. (Ex. You may command a random rabbit within range, beehive, elk, etc, by yelling out for that specific animal) This of course still follows the wild leader rules). These beast(s) will gain the benefits of your rage, and any of them with a strength score below 10, gets a strength score of 10, for the duration of your rage.

Additionally, any beast used as a mount through wild leader, will recognize you as a rider. Consider this beast a mount.

Wild companionship

Starting at 10th level, you and any beast affected by your wild leader does not get disadvantage from difficult terrain. You and your companions also gain advantage on attacks against any creature that hit any beast affected by your wild leader. Your beasts gain advantage on any creature that hit you.

Additionally, you may spend an action to use Wild leader, without raging first. Using this feature, you are not able to intimidate unwilling creatures, nor do they gain your benefits from rage or gain your strength score.
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your profficiency bonus. You regain all expended uses after a long rest.

Primal Roar

At 14th level you learn the primal roar. Once per long rest, when you enter a rage, you may target all beasts within range (60ft) that can hear you roar with your wild leader feature. Any other creature must make a con save (10 + your con modifier), or be considered frightened. They may try to make this save again on their turns.

After using this feature and your rage ends, you gain 2 points of exhaustion.
