Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The Scirocco Souls are the vagabond souls of the adventurous wandering wind elementals and great magical flying beasts that helped the great gods. These demigodly beings have taken human forms often to enjoy the pleasures of a city, or to warn peoples they care for of impending windstorms and sandstorms. In these interactions, debauchery or trysts are not entirely uncommon, and a humanoid can be made to carry on the lineage of these beings. These children sometimes grow up to be able to utilize wind and sand magic to assault their foes, and bear elemental power over the dangerous forces of the desert. Powerful monsters of mythology in desert realms, like the High Sphinxes or the King Griffon, the more mystical assassins of Anubis, or other adventurous spirits who embody the power of the desert environment are all likely to create a genealogy that would bear a Scirocco Soul.

In Avalestra, this is a rare birthright that has shown some small lineage of the Griffon Hypanaeus in the huge deserts surrounding Nahasumedina. This Griffon is sometimes call the King of the Skies, and while sightings of him are very rare, legends still exist of his terrifying wrath, which can bring overwhelming sandstorms capable of burying entire cities in sand. Sand Dwarves are the most common few who are born into such power, but Nahasumedina is such a merchant hub that attracts so many from around the continent that any of these families may have been involved deeply with the Griffon or his noble magical family.

Scirocco Magic

1st-level Scirocco Soul feature

You learn additional spells when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown on the Scirocco Spells table. Each of these spells counts as a sorcerer spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of sorcerer spells you know.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be an illusion or a transmutation spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list.

Bonus Proficiencies
1st-level Scirocco Soul feature

Your local culture teaches the use of weapons and shields as a matter of importance from childhood on. You gain proficiency in the scimitar, and with shields, and you may use a scimitar as a spell focus for your Scirocco Soul spells.

Ways of Wind

1st-level Scirocco Soul feature

At 1st level, your innate connection to your noble magical patron grants you a special capability to conjure and use gusts and microbursts of wind to your advantage. You learn the Gust cantrip, the Catapult spell, and the Zephyr Strike spell. You can cast your choice of either Catapult or Zephyr Strike without using a spell slot a total number of times equal to your proficiency bonus before you must finish a long rest to cast either spell this way again.

Rising Winds

6th-level Scirocco Soul feature

You perform acrobatic leaps assisted by powerful updrafts of wind to increase your jumping prowess. Whenever you would make a Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) to perform a leaping or jumping maneuver, you have advantage on that check and all of your jump height and distance maximums are doubled.

Additionally, you can cast Warding Wind without expending a spell slot a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus before you must finish a long rest to cast it this way again. If you spend 2 sorcery points as you cast this spell, you can change the range of this spell to "one willing creature within 30 feet."

Sandstorm Spellshift

14th-level Scirocco Soul feature

At 14th level, you become an expert spellcaster of desert magic, and can use the winds and shifting sands to maneuver yourself and assault foes. Whenever you cast one of your Scirroco Spells you may then move up to 15 feet horizontally in any direction as part of that action. This movement can move through squares of creatures medium size and smaller but cannot end in an occupied square, and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Additionally, once on each of your turns, you can use your reaction to deal your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier as nonmagical slashing damage to any target of one of your Scirocco Spells as you cause wind to assault the target with airborne debris at high speeds.

Master of the Desert

18th-level Scirocco Soul feature

At 18th level, you learn to become a wrathful eye of the storm, demolishing enemies with powerful cyclones of wind. You learn the Whirlwind spell and can cast it once without spending a spell slot. When you cast this spell in this way, you remove the concentration requirement from the spell's duration, you become the center of the radius of the spell, and the spell moves with you, centered on you. Creatures of your choice within the area of the Whirlwind are affected by the spell normally. You cannot cast this spell in this way again until you have finished a long rest.

Additionally, you may, as an action choose a number of willing creatures including yourself within 50 feet of you and grant them a fly speed of 50 feet for a number of total minutes each day equal to your Sorcerer level. While flying in this way, each target is surrounded in rushing winds, and they have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks related to hearing, and Dexterity (Stealth) checks to be quiet. You may cancel this flight at any time, but not individually for a creature, unless only one creature received this benefit, as all affected creatures are given the magic or have the magic removed as well. If the total duration of this feature ends, all affected creatures return to the ground as if affected by a Feather Fall spell.

Lastly, you are immune to the extreme environmental effects of desert environments, including extreme heat, high winds, sandy difficult terrain, sun exhaustion, sunburn, and blowing sand. You are unaffected, unharmed, and unimpeded by any such environmental hazard.
