Base Class: Paladin
The Oath of the Scorcher is a prideful oath, stemming back to the very creation of the multiverse. Sometimes called bright knights or solar knights, paladins that take this oath put themselves above all other creatures, especially evil ones. Their excessive amount of pride often trails dangerously close to narcissism, typically boasting about their solar gods and belittling their enemies. Closely connected to divination wizards that study the stars, Oath of the Scorcher paladins worship the greatest stars of them all; suns. Their armor is brightly decorated with depictions of the suns, their flaring flames and bright sunlight.
Tenets of the Scorcher

Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following Channel Divinity options.
- Cruel Sun. You can use your Channel Divinity to call upon the power of the sun. As an action, you present your holy symbol as your body is engulfed in vibrant flames and dealing 1d6 fire damage to all creatures within 10 feet of you. For 1 minute, all creatures that start their turn within 5 feet of you take 2d6 fire damage.
- Divine Sword. As a bonus action, you imbue a hand or other appendage with the searing heat of the sun. Your next unarmed attack against a target deals slashing damage, an additional 1d6 + Paladin level fire damage, and ignites the target for 1 minute, dealing 1d6 fire damage at the beginning of each turn, unless they or another creature spends an action to put out the flames.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Searing Pride
At 7th level, your connection with the sun allows you to boil your blood when an enemy turns away from your presence. Your opportunity attacks deal an additional 2d6 fire damage. In addition, when you land a critical hit, you may ignite your attack, changing your damage type to fire.
Empyreal Detonation
At 15th level, your extreme devotion to the sun fills your body with intense, smoldering heat. You have resistance to fire damage. While under the effects of your Channel Divinity: Cruel Sun, you instead have immunity to fire damage.
In addition, when you are reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to cause a violent explosion of fire and light. Each creature of your choice within 30 feet of you takes both fire and radiant damage equal to 1d12 + your paladin level of each type, and you gain 1 level of exhaustion. Once you use this reaction, you can't do so again until you finish 1d4 long rests.
The One
At 20th level, as an action, you can superheat your body to the core, causing blistering heat to emanate from within you. For 1 minute, your body swells with power, your size becomes Large. Your eyes and veins glow with fire, shedding bright light in a 30-foot radius, and dim light 30 feet beyond that.
Whenever an enemy creature starts its turn in the bright light, the creature takes 15 fire damage.
Your intense heat melts the very ground beneath you. All terrain within 15 feet of you becomes difficult terrain.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
