Oath of the Storm Warden

Storm Wardens take the oath with the desire to sweep the lands they inhabit from perceived evil. They roam territories like errant cyclones using their might to remove this evil. Storm Wardens follow their own rules or break others rules to achieve this path making Kord a common patron for their orders; although they may choose powerful creatures like Storm Giants as their patron or worship the Eternal Storm directly. Generally speaking Storm Wardens are Chaotic Good however your DM, campaign setting, or unique background may differ from this. Storm Wardens focus on using the Eternal Storm (a continuous storm that rages through the astral plains which Storm Wardens believe exists to influence storms on the physical plane and punish the wicked) to gain supernatural abilities which fortify their physical body with great speed and constitution.

Storm Warden Tenets

The Storm Does Not Bend. A storm knows no master and bends to no being. It will shout and crash and batter anything before it eroding stone, flooding rivers, and splintering trees if need be.

Allow Calm To Follow. When the storm passes it allows those who remain to do so in peace. Make the world better for knowing your presence, water its seeds and scour its sins from the face of the earth.

Master The Heart. The heart of the storm must be mastered or you will lose control of it. You may rage against the world displaying the will of your heart to the land but do not allow it to control you.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of the Storm Warden Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Summon Storm Wall. As an action you summon a wall of buffeting wind and rain in a 15 foot line centered directly in front of you horizontally. The wall is 10 ft. tall and travels 20 ft. straight forward from its origin position in the direction you are facing after which it fades. Any creature medium or smaller caught in the Storm Wall must succeed on a Strength Saving Throw equal to your Spell Save DC or be knocked prone and take thunder damage equal to your charisma modifier.

Unyielding Storm. As a bonus action you generate a swirling vortex around you. A barrier of shifting storm clouds appears centered on you with a 30 ft. radius that moves with you. Creatures must succeed on a Strength Saving Throw equal to your spellcasting modifier to willingly pass through the barrier or have their speed reduced to zero until the start of their next turn, flying creatures medium or smaller have disadvantage on this saving throw.

Stormy Aura

Starting at 7th level, a swirl of moisture and low rumbling thunder emanates in an aura around you while you’re not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover.

Creatures within your aura consider the ground rough terrain as squalls of wind and bursts of rain hinder their movement. When more than one creature is inside your aura all of those creatures are under the effects of Strong Wind as the storm picks up in response to the growing threat whipping violently and booming loudly with thunder.

You may choose to suppress this aura at will while out of combat reducing its effects to a minute raise in ambient moisture and a subtle breeze. You and your allies do not trigger the effects or movement penalties of this aura.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

StormWall Shield

The StormWall Shield is a magical shield crafted from the elements of the Eternal Storm. The StormWall Shield may be found in the Items menu and can be added to your inventory after you have learned this feature.

Spectral Creation: Creating this shield of rain and lightning uses a bonus action and may be dismissed as a bonus action. The shield hovers around you and does not take your off-hand to wield; however, you may not benefit from the use another shield while using the StormWall Shield. The shield is made of Conjuration Magic and may be forcefully dissipated by spells like dispel magic or anti-magic field, but cannot be the target of counter-spell when you summon it.

StormWall Protection: The StormWall Shield hovers around you and automatically orients against incoming attacks granting you the benefits of three-quarters cover ᴬ.

This ability satisfies the requirements for wielding a shield in the case of feats such as Shield Master and other abilities like the Fighting Style Interception.

ᴬA target with three-quarters cover has a +5 bonus to AC and Dexterity saving throws. A target has three-quarters cover if about three-quarters of it is covered by an obstacle. The obstacle might be a portcullis, an arrow slit, or a thick tree trunk.

Rage Of The Eternal Storm

Blood of the Storm: While you are under the storm magical energy courses through your veins and the storm surrounds you in energy. Any attacks against you have disadvantage and you are completely immune to thunder, lightning and force damage while under the effects of this spell. This does not require Line Of Sight to the storm.

Wrath of the Storm: Any enemy that finishes their turn in Line Of Sight of the storm must succeed on a Dexterity Saving Throw equal to your Spell Save DC or be knocked prone taking 10 lightning damage(half as much on a save) as lightning strikes them. Once an enemy fails its saving throw it cannot be targeted by the storm again. This effect also triggers against enemies when the storm is summoned.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

"Travelling to the Astral Plane I have witnessed the awe-inspiring power of the so called Eternal Storm myself. My only comment was that we are lucky such a power shows only residual effects on our plane of existence. Or at least that was my assumption until a I met one of the Wardens; I watched the man rend time and existence itself to call upon the Storm once before. It is not an experience I wish to repeat." -Unknown scholar.
