Kensai

The Kensai, or Sword Saints, have mastered the art of the blade. They fight with blurring speed and deadly precision. They forgo armor and shields in order to be as swift as possible in combat. When focused there is nothing their blade cannot cut. To become a Kensai you must be extremely disciplined, skillful and confident in your abilities. Swordsmanship means everything to a Sword Saint. They live and die by the sword.

Sword Saint

At 3rd level, through intense training, discipline, and focus, you have earned the right to be called a Sword Saint.

When wielding a melee weapon you gain the following benefits:

• You gain +1 to attack and damage rolls
• Your speed increases by 5 feet
• +1 AC

You lose these benefits if you are wearing armor or using a shield. 

 

 

Kai

At 3rd level, you can enter a state of complete focus and devastate your enemies with melee strikes. As a bonus action, all melee weapon attacks you make until the end of your turn deal maximum damage.

You cannot use this feature if you are wearing armor or using a shield.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you take a long rest.

Parry

At 7th level you are able to take deflect attacks using your swordsmanship. 

As a reaction, in response to a melee, ranged, or spell attack that targets you and deals damage, you can attempt to deflect it with your weapon. You gain +2 AC.

You must be holding a melee weapon and have no armor and no shield equipped to use this feature.

 You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.

Sword Saint Adept

At 10th level, over time your experience in combat and familiarity with your blade has grown, improving your Sword Saint abilities.

When wielding a melee weapon you gain the following benefits:

• You gain +2 to attack and damage rolls
• Your speed increases by 10 feet
• +2 AC

You lose these benefits if you are wearing armor or using a shield. 

Breath Control

At 15th level, when you use your Second Wind feature you replenish one expended use of Kai.

 

Sword Saint Mastery

At 18th level, you have mastered the way of the sword and are second to none.

When wielding a melee weapon you gain the following benefits:

• You gain +3 to attack and damage rolls
• Your speed increases by 15 feet
• +3 AC

You lose these benefits if you are wearing armor or using a shield. 

Everlasting Kai

At 18th level, you have mastered the use of Kai. 

Kai will now last until the end of your next turn.
