Path of the Bloodcaster

Starting at third level, a Bloodcaller barbarian gets access to a single first level spell, this is called a primal spell, Bloodcallers can cast a primal spell even while raging. At third level Bloodcallers have 1 priaml spells slot, this spell slot is recovered after a long rest. Bloodcallers may also attack themselves as an action with a melee piercing or slashing weapon, the attack automatically hits, and when they attack themselves this way, they regain a primal spell slot.

Primal Magic

When you reach 3rd level, your blood boils with primal magic. See Spells Rules for the general rules of spellcasting and the Spells Listing for the sorcerer spell list. Bloodcallers' spells use the sorcerer spell list.

Primal Spells

Spells acquired through the Bloodcaster subclass are known as Primal spells, and their spell slots are called Primal spell slots. Primal spells can be cast and concetrated on while raging. Also, Primal spell slots can only be used to cast Primal spells, and Primal spells can only be cast with Primal spell slots.

Spell Slots

The Bloodcaster table shows how many spell slots you have to cast your sorcerer spells of 1st through 6th level. The table also shows what the level of those slots is; all of your spell slots are the same level. To cast one of your warlock spells of 1st level or higher, you must expend a spell slot. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a short or long rest.

For example, when you are 6th level, you have two 2nd-level spell slots. To cast the 1st-level spell inflict wounds, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a 2nd-level spell.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher

At 3rd level, you know one 1st-level spell of your choice from the sorcerer spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Bloodcaller table shows when you learn more sorcerer spells of your choice of 1st level and higher. A spell you choose must be of a level no higher than what’s shown in the table’s Slot Level column for your level. When you reach 6th level, for example, you learn a new sorcerer spell, which can be 1st or 2nd level.

Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the sorcerer spells you know and replace it with another spell from the sorcerer spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Spellcasting Ability

Constitution is your spellcasting ability for your sorcerer spells, so you use your Constitution whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Constitution modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a sorcerer spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier

Spellcasting Focus

You can use your Bloodcaller mark, which you get somewhere on your body when you choose this subclass, as a spellcasting focus for your sorcerer spells.

Blood Rite

At third level, when you choose this subclass, you may use an attack to damage yourself with a melee piercing or slashing weapon, the damage is equal to your normal damage done with that weapon multiplied by your Primal spell slot level. Taking this action will regain a single Primal spell slot of its associated level. 

Blood Ward

At sixth level, Bloodcallers gain resistance to damage from spell attacks, and gain advantage on saving throws from spells.

Primal Fury

Beginning at 10th level, you can attack and cast a spell with the same action. While raging, when you take the attack action, you may cast a Primal spell with a casting time of one action.

Infusion of Pain

When you deal damage yourself to regain a Primal spell slot, you regain two Primal spell slots instead.
