A monk that follows the Way of the Zodiac can mimic the behavior of several animals, and apply those behaviors to their combat prowess through martial arts stances called Zodiac Forms. These stances actually change the flow of their ki to match the flow found within the animal they mimic, causing the instincts of that animal to overtake them for a time. This artful discipline borrows its strength from Mother Nature herself, and thus, the monks who study it have nothing but the highest regard for her and her children. To dishonor nature is to dishonor the Way of the Zodiac.

Bonus Proficiencies

At 3rd Level, You are proficient in Wisdom (Animal Handling) checks and Intelligence (Nature) checks if you aren't already. 

Zodiac Forms

At 3rd Level, You can expend 1 ki point as a Bonus Action in order to enter one of the Zodiac Forms listed below for 1 minute. You can make one unarmed strike whenever entering a Zodiac Form. When in a Zodiac Form, you gain the benefits listed below corresponding with that Zodiac Form:

Cunning Wolf. While in the Cunning Wolf Zodiac Form, you gain the following benefits: The first of your unarmed strikes to hit on your turn deals an additional amount of piercing damage equal to your Martial Arts die. If you attack a creature on your turn, you have advantage on attempts to either grapple the creature or knock it prone until the end of your next turn. You can also replace the Athletics check made of grappling or shoving with an Acrobatics check instead against those creatures.  

Deadly Serpent. While in the Deadly Serpent Zodiac Form, you gain the following benefits: The first of your unarmed strikes to hit on your turn deals an additional amount of piercing damage equal to your Martial Arts die. Unarmed strikes you make are 10 ft. in reach. Additionally, Opportunity Attacks you make using unarmed strikes can have a reach of either 5 ft. or 10 ft.

Elegant Crane. While in the Elegant Crane Zodiac Form, you gain the following benefits: The first of your unarmed strikes to hit on your turn deals an additional amount of slashing damage equal to your Martial Arts die. You gain a flight speed equal to your movement speed. If you already have a natural flight speed, you instead gain a +10 ft. bonus to it.

Ferocious Tiger. While in the Ferocious Tiger Zodiac Form, you gain the following benefits: The first of your unarmed strikes to hit on your turn deals an additional amount of slashing damage equal to your Martial Arts die. When you take the Attack Action immediately after moving at least 15 ft. in a straight line, you make your first attack within the action with advantage.

Nimble Hare. While in the Nimble Hare Zodiac Form, you gain the following benefits: The first of your unarmed strikes to hit on your turn deals an additional amount of bludgeoning damage equal to your Martial Arts die. Once during each of your turns, if you hit with a least one weapon attack, you gain a +15 ft. bonus to your movement speed until the end of that turn.

Unwavering Tortoise. While in the Unwavering Tortoise Zodiac Form, you gain the following benefits: The first of your unarmed strikes to hit on your turn deals an additional amount of bludgeoning damage equal to your Martial Arts die. You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.

You can exit a Zodiac Form you are currently in at will (no action required).

Flowing Forms

At 6th Level, The flow of your ki is ever-changing. If you hit with a weapon attack, you can expend 1 ki point in order to enter a Zodiac Form as a Reaction. The additional unarmed strike you make when entering a form is included as part of this Reaction.

If you are already in a Zodiac Form, you cannot enter that form using this Reaction.

Improved Zodiac Forms

At 11th Level, You choose three of the six Zodiac Forms to improve. The additional unarmed strike made when entering an Improved Zodiac Form deals an additional Martial Arts die of damage on a hit. Your Improved Zodiac Forms last for 10 minutes.

While in an Improved Zodiac Form, you gain the benefits listed below corresponding with that Zodiac Form: Inescapable Fangs, Slithering Coil, Dancing Feathers, Hunting Claws, Flashing Flurry, or Resilient Shell.  

Cunning Wolf - Inescapable Fangs

While in the Cunning Wolf Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• You make Intelligence checks and saving throws with advantage.
• A creature grappled by you is also restrained.

Deadly Serpent - Slithering Coil

While in the Deadly Serpent Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• You make Charisma checks and saving throws with advantage.
• While prone, you are treated as if you were standing unless you are targeted by a ranged attack or attempting to Hide. You can spend 5 ft. of movement to stand as part of exiting this Zodiac Form while prone.

Elegant Crane - Dancing Feathers

While in the Elegant Crane Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• You make Wisdom checks and saving throws with advantage.
• If you take the Attack Action on your turn, your movements do not provoke Opportunity Attacks until the end of your turn.

Ferocious Tiger - Hunting Claws

While in the Ferocious Tiger Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• You make Strength checks and saving throws with advantage.
• Once on your turns, if you miss a creature with a weapon attack during your Attack Action, you can make one additional weapon attack against the creature.

Nimble Hare - Flashing Flurry

While in the Nimble Hare Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• You make Dexterity checks and saving throws with advantage.
• Whenever you make a weapon attack on your turn, you can expend 15 ft. of movement in order the make it with advantage.

Unwavering Tortoise - Resilient Shell

While in the Unwavering Tortoise Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• You make Constitution checks and saving throws with advantage.
• If you end your turn having moved less than half your movement speed, you gain an amount of temporary Hit Points equal to your Monk Level + your Wisdom Modifier.

Zodiac Master

At 17th Level, You choose one of your three Improved Zodiac Forms to master. The additional unarmed strike made when entering your Mastered Zodiac Form is made with advantage, and deals two additional Martial Arts dice of damage on a hit, instead of one. Your Mastered Zodiac Form lasts for 1 hour.

While in your Mastered Zodiac Form, you gain the benefits listed below corresponding with that Zodiac Form: Howl of the Silver Wolf, Fangs of the Jade Serpent, Flight of the Paper Crane, Might of the Golden Tiger, Haste of Silk Hare, or Gong of the Iron Tortoise.

Cunning Wolf - Howl of the Silver Wolf

While in the Cunning Wolf Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• If you make an unarmed strike through Flurry of Blows, you can attempt to either grapple your target or knock it prone as part of the unarmed strikes.
• A creature grappled by you is dealt an amount of thunder damage equal your Martial Arts die whenever you damage it with a weapon attack on your turn, or if it attempts to escape your grapple. A creature takes this damage whether or not it succeeds in escaping.

Deadly Serpent - Fangs of the Jade Serpent

While in the Deadly Serpent Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• If you use Patient Defense while prone, all weapon attacks you make on your next turn while in this form are made with advantage.
• If you use Stunning Strike on a creature and it fails its Constitution saving throw, the creature is dealt an additional Martial Arts die of poison damage and is paralyzed as well as stunned.

Elegant Crane - Flight of the Paper Crane

While in the Elegant Crane Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• If you use your reaction to Slow Fall, you can make one weapon attack against a creature within 5 ft. of you, as part of the same action. On a hit you deal an additional amount of damage equal to your Martial Arts die + your Monk Level.
• If you use Deflect Missile to you catch and return an oncoming projectile and you hit with it, you have advantage on all weapon attacks you make against your target until the end of your next turn.

Ferocious Tiger - Might of the Golden Tiger

While in the Ferocious Tiger Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• If you use Flurry of Blows, the unarmed strikes are made with advantage if you hit with at least one weapon attack during your Attack Action.
• All unarmed strikes you make on your turn have a Critical Hit range of 19-20 on the attack roll.

Nimble Hare - Haste of Silk Hare

While in the Nimble Hare Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• If you use Flurry of Blows, and you hit with at least one of the unarmed strikes, you can make two additional unarmed strikes as part of your Flurry of Blows.
• If you use Step of the Wind, you can make one unarmed strike as part of the same action.

Unwavering Tortoise - Gong of the Iron Tortoise

While in the Unwavering Tortoise Zodiac Form, you gain the following additional benefits:

• If you use Patient Defense, you gain resistance to all damage types until the start of your next turn or until you take damage.
• Whenever a creature within 10 ft. of you hits you with an attack while you have temporary Hit Points through "Unwavering Tortoise - Resilient Shell", it is dealt an amount of thunder damage equal to half your Monk Level + your Wisdom modifier and is shoved up to 15 ft. away from you.
