Base Class: Bard
Deep in the woods, a gentle song played from harps, flutes, and other instruments mixes with the sounds of arrows being loosed from bows to craft a unique and emoldening melody. Even the wildlife seem to stop and listen to these beautiful sounds.
Bards of the Adder train within the realms of nature and learn to flawlessly incorporate archery into their music and performances.
Songbow
At 3rd level, you gain proficiency with shortbows and longbows. Additionally, you gain Expertise with Woodcarver's Tools.
Over the course of a 8 hour period, you are able to modify a shortbow or longbow into a Songbow using Woodcarvers tools. Making these modifications to a magical shortbow or longbow requires 12 hours of work and 100 gp per level of the magical item's rarity.
A Songbow incorporates a Harp, Flute, or other feasible musical instrument to which you are proficient and becomes a Bard spellcasting focus for you.
Additionally, a Songbow is required for use of your other features from this subclass.
Adder Arcana
When you join the College of Twin Adders at 3rd level, you gain the ability to modify your attacks with a Songbow in the following three ways:
Bloodletter - When you hit a creature with an attack using your Songbow, you can cause the attack to deal an additional 1d8 piercing damage. You may only use Bloodletter on a target if you hit them with either Corrosive Bite or Necrotic Bite on your last turn. The piercing damage increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 2d8 at 5th level and 4d8 at 15th level.
Corrosive Bite - When you hit a creature with an attack using your Songbow, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to deal an extra 2d4 Acid damage to that target. If you do, your arrow causes the target to take a -1 penalty to their AC until the end of your next turn. The Acid damage increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 3d4 at 5th level, 5d4 at 10th level, and 8d4 at 15th level. The AC penalty increases to -2 at 10th level.
Necrotic Bite - When you hit a creature with an attack using your Songbow, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to deal an extra 2d6 necrotic damage to that target. The necrotic damage increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 3d6 at 5th level, 5d6 at 10th level, and 8d6 at 15th level.
You may only use one Adder Arcana per turn.
You gain access to the following Adder Arcana at 6th level:
Shadow Bite - When you hit a creature with an attack using your Songbow, you can expend a spell slot of 1st level to cause the attack to deal an additional 4d4 Acid damage. The damage increases by 2d4 for each slot level above 1st. If you use Shadow Bite on a target you hit with Bloodletter on your last turn, the Shadow Bite sprays Acid in all directions - forcing all other creatures within a 15 foot radius to make a Constitution saving throw or suffer the same amount of damage as the original target.
Extra Arcana
Starting at 6th level, you can use Corrosive Bite or Necrotic Bite without expending a Bardic Inspiration die once per short or long rest.
Serpent Song
Over the centuries, archers have taken to singing while they keep steady aim on the battlefields to calm their own nerves and steady their arms. Over time, they began to sing louder and louder - realizing their allies benefited from their tunes as well.
At 14th level, you learn to quickly play through your Songbow while simultaneously attacking. Just before you use the attack action on your turn, you play an invigorating song infused with Arcane power as a bonus action. Up to four creatures of your choice within 90 feet of you deal an extra 4d4 Acid damage whenever they hit with a weapon or spell attack until the end of your next turn.
You can use this feature once, and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a short or long rest.
