The Way of the Calm Spirit is a relatively unknown Tradition. As much as students seek peace and enlightenment, many are still drawn to schools that practice 'flashier' or more dramatic Traditions.
Students of the Way of the Calm Spirit hone their senses over years of meditation. They learn to sense the world around them as well as to look deep within themselves. This training allows them to sense the spirits of others and enables them to predict how an enemy might strike and how best to avoid it. Their training also teaches them how best to strike back.
Contests between students of this Tradition look more like staring contests than martial arts duels. Both competitors seek to learn their foe's weakness while at the same time moving in such a way that they cover any of their own weaknesses.
The character receives Proficiency with the Insight Skill. You receive a +1 to this Skill at levels 6, 11, and 17.
Predictive Attack and Defense
As part of your Attack Action, make an Insight check against an opponent that you can see with 40' of you. If you succeed, you receive +1 to hit and +1 damage on all of your attacks against that opponent for 1 minute. You also receive +1 AC against that opponent for one minute.
After your Attack action, the target must make a Wisdom Save against DC = 8+your WIS modifier + your PB. If they fail the Save they receive Disadvantage if they attack any target other than you. Success means they may act normally.
Body of Smoke
Enemies now have a -1 on their Deception rolls to counter your Insight checks.
When an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your Reaction to halve the attack’s damage against you.
If you strike your opponent with Flurry of Blows you receive +1 AC against that opponent.
Expanded Senses
Beginning at 11th level, you may add Expertise to your Perception Skill.
You gain the Blind Fighting Fighting Style. Your range with this is 15'.
You cannot be surprised while you are conscious.
Singular Strike
At 17th level, you gain the ability to strike with such precision that many enemies are slain outright. As part of your Attack action, spend 3 Ki Points and make an Insight check against a target that you can see within 50' of you. If the check succeeds, make a single melee attack. If it hits, the target must make a Con Save against DC 8+ your WIS modifier + your PB. Their Save is at a -1 for every point you made your Insight check by. A failed Save means that the target is reduced to 0 hit points immediately. A successful Save means that you may make all of your Melee attacks as normal, plus one additional attack.
