Base Class: Wizard
Magic goes beyong blasting spells and specialization of a school of magic like Divination or Evocation. Magic is in the very words, the mediums, the space that it takes place in. Some wizards have rediscovered this truth, which had been lost for ages, and have ran with it. They have rediscovered to look at magic in a more simple way that has allowed them to manipulate any spell they so choose, as long as they are up to snuff.
One must be careful when tanging with a Deep Arcanist. You may end up losing without them casting a single spell.
Mold Spells
At 2nd level, you gain a number of sculpt point equal to your Proficiency Bonus. You can use these points to mold your spells, and possibly those of others, as you see fit. You start combat with full points and regain an expended sculpt point every round at the beginning of your turn. You can still sculpt spells without the required points, but must make an Intelligence saving throw against your own spell save DC + (missing amount of points required). On a failure you fail to cast your spell and lose your action, but your spell slot remains
Reflow
You're now able to manipulate the area your spells take place in granting yourself increased range for far to reach targets or reduced range when fighting close to allies.
You can change the path your spell takes as a Bonus Action, increasing or decreasing the area and range of your spells. For every two spell points spent, you can either extend/shrink the range of your cone or line spells by 10 ft, or increase/decrease the radius of spells with an area of a cube, circle, or square, by 5 ft.
Retarget
You can change your spells targets, and that of others.
You can use one Sculpt Point and a bonus action to cast a spell with a range of touch to a range of 30 ft, or two points to allow a spell with a range of self to target a friendly creature within 60 ft, and if the spell requires concentration, you concentrate on the spell as normal.
Alternatively, you can expend two Sculpt Points and a reaction to force a hostile spellcaster to make a Constitution saving throw contested by your spell save DC. On a failure, you can force the creature to target any point of your choice within the spell's range, potentially forcing them to miss.
True to the Craft
Starting at 6th level your mastery over the very essentials of magic has brought you a few benefits.
- You are always under the effects of the Detect Magic spell. Unless you normally cast the spell, you could only see the magic left behind by other spells
- When using Retarget against a hostile creature, they gain disadvantage on their roll if the spell they cast is one of your prepared spells
- Gain an additional 5 ft to the range of spells altered by Reflow
- You add your proficiency modifier to your Dispel Magic and Counter Spell rolls against spells you have prepared, and half your proficiency bonus against all other spells.
Ingrained Arcana
You have rediscovered the method to feel for familiar fibers in the weave of magic.
When saving against spells, you suffer only half of the effects on a failed save and none of the effects on a successful save. The spell you are saving against must be in your spellbook, or you must have encountered it at least once in the last hour. You have a total number of uses equal to your proficiency modifier between long rests.
True Arcanist
You've rediscovered how to directly manipulate the energies of spells once they're cast.
- Add an additional 5 ft when using Reflow
- Add half your proficiency bonus to your spell save DC when using Retarget against a hostile creature
- Choose a damage type between cold, fire, lightning and thunder. You can change the damage type of a spell for a single casting in exchange for four sculpt points and a bonus action
Finally, you can directly change the target of any spell to any creature in your line of sight upon a successful DC 20 (Arcana) as a reaction. This spell will act as though you were the original caster of said spell. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier and regain all spent uses after a long rest
