Origin Feat
You gain the following benefits.
Two Cantrips. You learn two cantrips of your choice from the Cleric, Druid, or Wizard spell list. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this feat’s spells (choose when you select this feat).
Level 1 Spell. Choose a level 1 spell from the same list you selected for this feat’s cantrips. You always have that spell prepared. You can cast it once without a spell slot, and you regain the ability to cast it in that way when you finish a Long Rest. You can also cast the spell using any spell slots you have.
Spell Change. Whenever you gain a new level, you can replace one of the spells you chose for this feat with a different spell of the same level from the chosen spell list.
Repeatable. You can take this feat more than once, but you must choose a different spell list each time.

Posted Jun 30, 2025You can cast a spell via the feat only once per long rest; you don't regain expended spell slots on a level up, and this is no different.

Posted Jul 22, 2025To get that spell to show up, you need to own the book it comes from, Xanathar's Guide to Everything. You also need to have "Expanded Rules" checked under Sources on the Home tab of the character builder.

Posted Aug 29, 2025This feat is officially banned from my campains. You will see wizards spendind half of their spell slots in cure wounds, and cleric spending half of spell slots on Sheild. This litterally breaks the balancing of classes

Posted Oct 11, 2025When I take the Cleric version as Warlock and pick Bless, can I use my Pact Weapon to cast it? Or do I need a component pouch and put a Holy symbol worth 5 gp in it?

Posted Oct 14, 2025No, Bless has a material component with a cost, so you can't use a spellcasting focus to cast it. You need a Holy Symbol worth at least 5 gp. You do not need a Component Pouch.

Posted Oct 28, 2025If I play a wizard, and take magic initiate (wizard), can I copy the spells in my spellbook (with the cost and/or via creating a scroll first), and (as in 2024 rules) as I level up, swich the 1’st level spell, and copy that to my spellbook, and so on?…

Posted Dec 13, 2025I think I am missing something. If you created an Acolyte Human Cleric you could have this feat 3 times at level 1 which would give you 9 cantrips and could you not choose healing word 3 times?
Spell change, am I right in thinking that you can choose a different spell based on your level or can you only use level 1 spells?

Posted Dec 19, 2025You can take this feat multiple times, but you have to choose a different class spell list (Cleric, Druid, or Wizard) each time. There is no way to get all three at level 1 — a Human Cleric with the Acolyte background would only have two origin feats, not three — but you could take the third one when you have the opportunity to take another feat.
There's nothing saying you can't take the same spell more than once if it's on more than one class list, and doing so would get you an additional free use of it, but you're missing out on another always-prepared spell. You would only be able to get Healing Word twice, because it is not on the Wizard list.
The feat explicitly says you can replace one of the spells you get from this feat with another spell of the same level as the spell you're replacing. Since the feat only grants cantrips and level 1 spells, you can only replace a cantrip with another cantrip, and you can only replace a level 1 spell with another level 1 spell. This feat does not provide any way of getting a spell of level 2 or higher.

Posted Jan 21, 2026Is the level 1 Spell considered a spell from the List type of the Character's Calss.
A Warlock takes MI Cleric or Wizard.
HE then gets the Cartomancer feat.
Can he use a Cleric/Wizard spell equal to his highest Warlock spell slot?

Posted Jan 26, 2026It's considered a spell of that class if it's on that class's spell list, but otherwise no. Nothing in the feat says it makes the spell count as being part of other classes' lists.
Only if the spell is also on the Warlock list. Having the Magic Initiate feat doesn't put the spells you get from it (or any other spells from the chosen class list) on your class list.
