I went to make an artificer with the 2015 rules on DND beyond. I quickly found out that I can't make a new artificer as the class doesn't exist as an option anymore.
What if I have expanded rules on and own the books and it still isn’t there?
Just to be clear, which book are you saying you own? The Artificer class appears in two books: Tasha's Cauldron of Everything or Eberron: Rising from the Last War. Do you own one or both of these?

While multiple physical books can contain the same material, that doesn't mean purchasing a digital book grants you access to it. There's a difference between the compendium content and what's usable on your character sheet. The SCAG subclasses reprinted in Xanathar's and Tasha's (Bladesinging, Mastermind, Swashbuckler, and Way of the Sun Soul) previously needed to be purchased through SCAG to count as an entitlement. I don't know if that's still the case, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Hi, little late to the convo but I’m in the same boat. I own the digital version of Tasha and I have expanded rules on. Any reason why Artificer still isn’t showing up?

Did you check your entitlements are synced as I suggested above?
Also, the Artificer class is in a separate category on the Class tab, not with the other classes; you may need to scroll down to find it.
UPDATE: I toggled expanded rules off and on and it appeared. I have no clue why it didn't appear the first time when I had it set to on. Weird! But problem solved!
If you only have the books with artificer from content sharing, is there not a way to build an artificer in D&D Beyond anymore?
Character options that you only have through content sharing can only be used on a character that's actually in the campaign that's sharing that content. This has always been the case as far as I know.
I have the same problem i think, even if i allow expanded rules theres nothing about expanded rules in the classes options
Do you own any of the books that include the Artificer class? These are:
Eberron: Rising from the Last War (includes the 5e version)
Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (includes the 5e version)
Eberron: Forge of the Artificer (includes the 5.5e version)
If you own either of the 5e books, and are trying to use the 5e version of the class, you'll need to make sure "5e Expanded Rules" is checked. If you own the 5.5e book and are trying to use the 5.5e version of the class, you'll need to check "5.5e Expanded Rules".
If you don't own any of these books, then you can only use the class in the character builder if you're making the character in a campaign where one of these books is being shared.

I'm very sad, as artificer was my favorite class.
Thanks for the years WoTC.
Artificer is neither in the new 2024 rules nor in the 2014 legacy rules seeing as it was not in the 2014 PHB.
Artificer appears under Expanded Rules.
To create an Artificer you need to have Expanded Rules enabled when creating a character.
This should display the Artificer as an option on the page where you choose a class

Also try checking whether your entitlements are synced here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses

It's not there for me either with Tasha's, entitlements synced and expanded rules clicked
Is the "Expanded Rules" section on the Class tab (between the "Core Rules" section and the "2014 Core Rules" section) present at all?
