a fighting style to both (extra one in swords case)
weapon mastery to both
constitution saving throw proficiency
the benefit of being able to be martially strong from level 1 rather than waiting for the subclass
All at the cost of pushing your extra attack from the already late level 6 to level 7...but, you get true strike/booming blade/green flame blade from level 1 with an origin feat or level 2 for bard, and those hit nearly as hard as extra attack anyway.
Does this feel a bit like cheating to anyone? Too min/max?
And, if you start as a Fighter first, you also gain Heavy Armor proficiency,
Personally I find taking 1 level in Rogue to be pretty compelling. You gain a skill proficiency, thieves' tool proficiency, an additional language choice (plus Thieves' Cant), 2 additional Expertise, Sneak Attack, and 2 Weapon Mastery.
Assuming you are going College of Valor (because that seems to be the group most likely to take that dip), Fighter only gives you Fighting Style, 2 Second Wind, and 3 Weapon Masteries.
That works out to a Fighting Style, 2 Second Wind (that are only 1d10+1), and 1 Weapon Mastery against an additional Skill Proficiency, Thieves' Tools, additional Language, 2 Expertise, and Sneak Attack

Specifically on Valor and Swords bards.

This only happens if you start as a Ftr first.
As for cost, if you don't mind being a bit behind everyone it makes sense.
