I have made a homebrew race and I am unable to use it, I have homebrew enabled on the character sources screen, the creation shows up in my collections and it is private not published, have I done something wrong?
I did hit save changes, I have not tried the third option and it had now been 20 minutes since the thread was started so if the 3rd thing doesn't fix it the 2nd wasn't the issue
when editing your character in the Character Builder, you need to enable the "Homebrew Content" toggle to be able to use homebrew content on that character.
This is done by toggling the "Homebrew Content" toggle on the Character Preferences section of the HOME tab.
For reference, this option is toggled ON when it it in the right-hand position and is displaying a red colour. The OFF position is grey and in the left-hand position.
The image below shows homebrew in the ON position:

I have now added the class, set the level to 20 and then back to 1, and the option still does not appear
