Okay - first time homebrew race creator here. Very new to using the site tools for this task... In the Racial Traits section, I have created an Additional Spell List. But when I try to manage spells on my character sheet for said race, I get the following message: "You do not have spellcasting or pact magic spells to manage. The spells that appear for your character were gained through other class features, racial traits, feats, or items." So I've either put these spells in the wrong place in the race creation? Or I need to add something to make them accessible on my character sheet? Like a feat or subclass? Or maybe just a simple fix I'm missing? Any advice appreciated!
An Additional Spell List, from whatever source (Race, Background, Feat, etc.) gives the character access to particular spells via their class. But they still need to have a class that gives them the Spellcasting or Pact Magic feature, otherwise they can't actually add the spells to the character and use them.
What you probably want to do is add Spells to a racial trait, not an Additional Spell List.
The homebrewer can be tricky to work with, and if you're unsure of how to use it, making a homebrew copy of an official race/feat/item that has trait/feature you want will let you examine how it was done. Try Tiefling.
So, I do have a few specific spells added to my racial trait, which show up on my character sheet. My goal with the additional spells list was to have a pool of spells the character can learn in the future. I used the genasi template to build the race; maybe that was the wrong template to go off of. 😅
Well, that sounds interesting, what did you have in mind to do? Allow choosing 1 out of multiple possible spells when they reach a certain character level? You'd accomplish that with a Spell as well. When you Edit that Spell listing, put more than one spell into the Spell field.

Well I'm creating a character for a homebrew mage school game my friend is DMing. So I assume we'll be learning spells. :) I'll try that tip, thanks!
For what you describe, you were right to use the “Additional Spell List” subsection, not “Spells.” Your Test Character pro’ly doesn’t have either the Spellcasting or Pact Magic features. The “Additional Spell List” adds to a Caster’s preexisting Class spell list of learnable/preparable spells, which means it needs to already be a spellcaster for them to appear. Make sure it’s a Wizard or something and then try it again.
If that’s👆not the problem, you may have inadvertently made it an “Additional” trait, if so that’s pro’ly your problem. It has to be a “Granted” trait, “Additional” & “Replacement” traits/features are for stuff like Customizing your “Lineage”/OptionalClass Features.
It is a Granted trait, so it sounds like the issue might be the class? Which is rogue. If that's the case, is there a work-around or loophole I can take advantage of to still make the trait work?

If you're playing a single-classed Rogue, you won't be able to make use of an Additional Spell List until you reach level 3 and can take Arcane Trickster as your Roguish Archetype, which would give you the Spellcasting feature.

The only other option would be to create a homebrewed Rogue Subclass using the Trickster as a template, but it would still carry all the same restrictions.

Okay! I'll play around with that and see if it resolves the issue. :)
