Do I need to purchase the PHB to get access to other subclasses, feats, etc? I cant choose any domain but life cleric, no feats but firearms and grappling, and I just have little to no options. I own the PHB IRL but want to play online with my friends and I don't want to buy the same book again unless absolutely necessary.
You don't need to buy the whole book, you can buy just the options you want. You can find them by scrolling down the marketplace page for the player's handbook.
Alternatively you can build the options yourself in the homebrew tools, referencing the physical book. However you mustn't publish them if you do
