In order to find and purchase Drow and The Genie just now, I had to use an external search engine which pointed me back at the forum posts on this very web site that explained which books to go back and search visually through the marketplace for, then scroll way down the page for, just to pay $1.99 for something (Drow) that was in my player's handbook which I thought I had bought already, and then again an hour later $1.99 something else (The Genie) which I would never have known about if my DM hadn't suggested it.
Obviously the best thing would be for the search function to search marketplace entries and forum posts, but in any case it shouldn't just outright lie about searching everything.
And when I am selecting options from a menu, and you have hidden options from that menu because I haven't paid you extra for them, at least show a list *in or directly linked from that menu* of the missing items in the marketplace... not just a useless "Search the marketplace yourself!" handwave.
Also, why isn't Armor of Agathys in the Warlock spell list? Who knows? Better ask Google...
It would have been easier to just go to Game Rules and click Races or Warlock.
But, anyway, the search box works fine for me for races and spells and even has filters. For example I searched "drow" and then clicked Characters (filter for character option) and voila, 2nd from top, the Drow listing. I searched for Genie and without even needing a filter, voila very first result.
Armor of Agathys is in the Warlock spell list. It is not free, though, so you'd need to buy the PHB or the spell (or find somebody wiling to share content with you).

I did that already. My DM even sent me a link to the warlock rules page after I told him i couldn't find The Genie anywhere.
It was missing the relevant paragraphs! His HTML was different from my HTML on the same URL. He had to send me a screenshot so I could even see what I was missing.
You don't see my problem because you don't see my problem. And that's my problem! 😁
Also you miss my main point. I need the *marketplace item* SKU page so I can pay $1.99 to get the subclass to even *appear* in my dropdown menu while creating a character.
I could see the Drow paragraphs in the Compendium hits. I couldn't see the Dark Elf race in my new char's race menu until I tediously searched and scrolled and purchased it.
And my DM has shared all his "content" with me. The Armor spell still doesn't show up for me. Maybe he bought the Player's Handbook but not the Magical Wonderful Fantastical Compendium Of Endless Fantasy or whatever the actual spell database entry is linked to. But I must note that the comments on https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/armor-of-agathys are full of the exact same complaint.
People have been reporting this bug since 2018.Just add a link to the actual store page, guys! Please take my money! 😂
Is anyone actually maintaining this webapp or are Wizards just collecting pieces of silver from it behind the scenes?
No Genie! The page ends right after The Fiend. Now do you see what I don't see? 😉
pointless rant time:
I get why they want to nickel-and-dime us. It's a web app, they want to monetize me using it, even though I've already bought their paper books. I don't like it, but I get it.
But why would they design their microtransaction-based site to hide the microtransactions? and make it almost impossible to find them even if you've heard about them through other sources? It's the worst of both worlds.
I do now understand what you mean, the entries from search do not link to marketplace if you lack the option and that should be more clear, I agree with you.
I can't agree with Armor of Agathys. It is on the spell list, it is from the PHB and if you buy the PHB or the spell it appears. If your DM has bought it and has a Master Tier subscription and enabled content sharing - are you making the character in that campaign where sharing was enabled? I cannot replicate your issue - it appears for me, both in my main account where I bought it and for my test account where it was being shared.

Aha! No, he's not in the campaign. I just clicked "Create Character" while looking at my old character from the same campaign.
Please don't tell me there's no way to move a character to a campaign. I can't see one. I just spent two days tinkering with this guy. Do I have to ask my DM to click something?
That also explains why I couldn't see content I knew I had already been shared.

Anyway, for anyone reading this in 2028, here's the Armor of Agathys: https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/players-handbook , scroll down to Spells, then Individual Purchase Options, then open your coin purse and count out 199 copper pieces.
Yeah, just verified to make sure I wasn't going crazy yesterday.
open https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/warlock#TheGenie in your browser. Now open it again in Incognito Mode (or while logged out).

You just need the join link for the campaign
Got it. I'm in! Thanks!
