I want to add one of my homebrew items and spells to one of my players characters but the spell and item won’t show up when I try to edit or manage the character. What should I do?

Do you have homebrew content turned on for the character?
Character sheet, drop-down menu beside the character name, edit character, click on Home at the top section menu ( Home, 1. Race, 2. Class .... ), make sure Homebrew content is toggled on, click it if not.

I don't think a homebrew item needs to be submitted/published to be used in your own campaign - at least none of the homebrew spells I have in my campaign are publicly published.
Another thought - have you tagged the spell for that character class, under the spell's Basic Information ( bottom right )?

Is the item in your "homebrew collection?" If it is not, go to your creations and at the bottom it should say "add to collection" or something to that effect.
You don't need to do anything special to share these, just provide the web url of the page and I'll be able to view them from that and hopefully be able to offer insight on how to get this working for you. :)
Good news! I've had a look at the character and I can see your homebrew spell there - I didn't have to make any changes to anything. Possibly the source of confusion is due to the way that spells are prepared?
If you, or the player, click on the SPELLS tab and then select MANAGE SPELLS, you'll see that there are two sections - KNOWN SPELLS and PREPARED SPELLS. The homebrew spell is showing up in prepared spells. If you click on the PREPARE graphic next to it, it will then show in the main spells area on the character sheet.
You also mentioned you were having difficulty with an item - is that resolved, or is there still a problem? Please feel free to link the item here if you still need some help. :)
Still can’t find the item. Would love help on figuring out how to find homebrew items. Do you have to scroll through instead of searching it in the find bar?
I was able to add the item to the character sheet by clicking on MANAGE EQUIPMENT and then ADD ITEMS, followed by typing the word "dawn" in the search box - this was the only item that showed up and I was able to click to add it to the sheet.

The item you linked was from the Tal'dorei campaign book, published by Green Ronin, and has been rejected during a routine check. This means it is no longer public homebrew on D&D Beyond.

Also note that the character needs to be a part of a campaign you are in.
I’ve done all of that I made sure of it
are you sure the homebrew item was properly submitted?

Yeah I put it under paladin which is what my character is. Do I need to specify subclass?
Does the item require attunment, and if so, do you have it attuned?
I can’t find the item in items to even give the character

It’s in my collection as is the spell I just can’t find either when I go to the character in my campaign
Do you need content sharing to share homebrew collections? My groups all have it for the books anyway, so I don't know, but maybe that's it?
Hi there Kalkara339,
please can you provide the url (link) to:

Ok I didn’t realize that there was a campaign book for it and I apologize for the grievance. Thank you so much for your help and sorry to trouble you.
