I've got a bit of a problem here, slightly urgent.
I'm co-GMing a big West Marches style campaign and am the one hosting the D&D Beyond campaigns for all the characters. One of the other GMs and I are setting up a special one-shot for the players for Halloween and so I used my last content share slot to make a separate campaign where we would build up the pre-gens for the adventure. I created a test character using the "Create Unassigned Character" link and filled in a few of the basic details but left some of the finer points for my friend to fill in, as he's going to be the one running the session. He isn't able to actually claim the character however...
Anyone come across this before? I've tried claiming it for myself and un-assigning it but that didn't help. I've added some screenshots for help.
What I see from the join link:
(I created the Half-Orc)
What he sees both on join link and in the campaign view:
Initially, yes they were a free user and had just used their last slots to build the other pregens. However he has since paid for a player subscription and reports the same issue

Ask the player to log out of DDB, log back in, and wait 10-20 minutes, then check.
For anyone that might stumble across this looking for a solution to this same problem, the player trying to claim the character will most likely already have the maximum amount of characters that they can create, which for non-subscribers is 6. The player will need to either delete one of their 6 characters, create a new dndbeyond account, or subscribe to dndbeyond to be able to have more character slots and claim a character. After they've done this they should be able to claim a character.
I am aware that this thread is two years old, but I just had the same problem with one of my players, and if I stumbled across this thread, someone else probably will in the future. Hopefully this helps you future person.

Is your co DM a subscriber or are they using a free account? If a free account, are all their character slots taken?

Having a similar issue but I cannot create or claim characters in my DM's campaigns.
Ask the player to log out of DDB, log back in, and wait 10-20 minutes, then check.

How many characters are already in the campaign? How many players?
Do you have any free character slots?

For my part this seems to be resolved. I guess the issue was that the other GM had their non-subscriber status cached somewhere.
Looking at the campaign during the game I can see that they and the players have all managed to claim sheets successfully
